  • Kmart improves nationwide check-cashing service

    Kmart has been offering Shop Your Way members check-cashing services since September last year, but this week the retailer is making the service available for $1 or less, rather than $3. For the lowered price, members will be able to cash payroll and government checks up to $2,000 and personal checks up to $500.

  • Sears woos teen market

    Sears is looking to position itself as the go-to retailer for teens, and to that end has launched an exclusive fashion collection by Seventeen Magazine.

    The full collection is available at 450 Sears stores nationwide as well as on Sears.com. Shop Your Way members and customers can shop the collection, enter sweepstakes and explore exclusive content from Seventeen Magazine at shopyourway.com.

  • Digital Retail Innovation is Half the Battle

    Sears and Kmart recently announced they will allow pickup of Sears.com or Kmart.com orders at any of each other's more than 2,000 U.S. stores. Customers will be able to select free store pickup and a preferred pickup location for specially marked online items. The retailers are even taking the digitally progressive step of offering online video instruction through the YouTube channel for members of the Sears/Kmart Shop Your Way omnichannel loyalty program.

  • Lululemon, Arhaus open at Woodfield Mall

    Schaumburg, Ill. -- Woodfield Mall is celebrating the grand opening of six new retailers this summer, adding to the center’s nearly 300 stores.

    New and first-in-market retailers include: Lululemon Athletica, Arhaus, Camille La Vie, Uno de 50, 100% Pure and The White Barn Candle Co. These additions come on the heels of the recently added Garage, Sperry Top-Sider, Silver Jeans and the first-ever Ricky B’s Prime Burger House.

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears Holdings is extending its Shop Your Way membership program with a major expansion of its rewards program with the addition of more than 50 brand-name partners. Once the exclusive membership program of Sears, Kmart and Lands' End, Shop Your Way will not include more partners in more categories.

  • J.D. Power survey: Hhgregg, Lowe’s highest in consumer satisfaction

    Westlake Village, Calif. -- Hhgregg ranks highest in appliance retailer customer satisfaction, followed by Lowe’s, according to the J.D. Power 2014 Appliance Retailer Satisfaction Study. The survey found that a knowledgeable sales staff providing a prompt, courteous and engaging customer service experience helps drive satisfaction with home appliance retailer.
