  • Dario gets it done in downtown St. Pete

    The Target brand was a big winner over the weekend, as Dario Franchitti piloted the number10 car of Target Chip Gansassi Racing to victory in the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. The race through the streets of downtown St. Petersburg, Fl, consisted of 100 laps over a 1.8 mile, 14 turn course, and the distinctive red and white Target car was featured extensively during television coverage.   • Target focuses on food in Charlotte

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target has announced plans to remodel several stores in the Charlotte area. According to the company, the remodeling will begin March 27 and will add such features as open-market fresh food layout, complete a selection of fresh produce, fresh meat and baked goods. The new layout also includes reinventions in several other areas throughout the store such as beauty, home, baby and shoes.

  • Toys"R"Us provides additional donation to Save the Children

    WAYNE, N.J. – The Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund has made an additional donation of $500,000 to Save the Children, bringing the Fund’s total contribution to $1 million to support the organization’s relief efforts for children and families impacted by the crisis in Japan.

    Target made an original donation of $500,000 to Save the Children earlier this month.

  • Target wants pro-gay marriage group in San Diego to stop canvassing its stores

    San Diego -- Target Corp. is suing a pro-gay marriage group to get it to stop canvassing outside its San Diego County stores, alleging the group’s activists are driving away customers, the Associated Press said.

  • Prices going up, but Walmart still cheapest

    A monthly pricing survey by Credit Suisse showed Walmart had the lowest overall basket price in Dallas and Chicago and suggest that where prices head from here is up to Walmart.

  • Georgetown Co. acquires Old Navy Chicago flagship building for $23 million

    New York City -- Robert K. Futterman & Associates said that it represented buyer The Georgetown Co. in the acquisition of 35 North State Street, a 60,000-sq.-ft. building in Chicago, for $23 million.

    The building is currently net-leased to Old Navy and serves as the retailers’ Chicago flagship.

    ATLANTA — Goody, a maker of hair accessories and styling tools, is relaunching its StayPut collection — originally designed to give athletic women hair accessories with superior hold — under the name Slide-Proof, to coincide with the launch of its new hair accessories for use in any occasion.

  • Out with the old

    MINNEAPOLIS -- Consumer electronics become outdated almost as soon as the public learns about them, so electronics trade-in services, such as the one offered by Target, help consumers stay on top of the latest trends without having to have a pile of old cell phones collecting dust in their homes. Target Wednesday announced that it has expanded its trade-in program to include Nintendo DS, in time for the upcoming release of the Nintendo 3DS.
