  • Sam’s Club and Target execs team up at RadioShack

    Former Sam’s Club SVP and GMM Huey Long and former Target EVP of stores Troy Risch have joined forces to right the ship at RadioShack.

  • Target to open store in Pomona, Calif.

    Minneapolis -- Target announced plans to open a 140,000-sq.-ft. store in Pomona, Calif., in October 2013.

    To date, Target has announced plans to open 16 Target stores in 2013.

     

  • Target, United Way deliver a holly, jolly holiday

    ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Target is teaming up with the United Way for the 22nd consecutive year to bring families in need some holiday cheer.

    Target stores across the country will donate more than $200,000 worth of holiday trees to the charitable organization, as part of the Target Share-a-Tree Program. The United Way and its volunteers will distribute the trees to families in need, shelters, community centers and childcare programs.

  • Study: Top retailers leave 73% of customer tweets unanswered

    Chicago -- E-commerce and digital marketing company Acquity Group announced Monday social media findings that revealed the vast majority of retailers don’t respond to customer tweets.
     
    The 2012 Brand eCommerce Audit evaluated Interbrand's 2012 Best Retail Brands on customer engagement across major digital channels, including big browser, social and mobile.
     

  • Vintage Real Estate acquires Heritage Mall

    Albany, Ore. -- Vintage Real Estate announced that the company has acquired Heritage Mall, located in Albany, Ore.

    The 406,500-sq.-ft. mall features more than 50 major retailers, boutiques and restaurants including Target, Sears, Ross Dress for Less and Old Navy, Maurice’s, rue 21, Zumiez, Famous Footwear, Game Stop and Bath & Body Works. It was remodeled in 2006 and is 50% occupied.

    Promotional activity among the nation’s leading retailers declined during November aside from several notable exceptions. There was a flurry of intense promotional activity around Thanksgiving weekend, as always, but for the months as a whole the number of inserts distributed by retailers declined 7% and the number of pages declined by 5%.

  • Target exec elected to Verizon's board of directors

    New York — Verizon Communications has elected Kathryn A. Tesija, EVP merchandising and supply chain at Target to the Verizon board of directors, effective immediately.

    "Kathee Tesija brings to Verizon her valuable consumer insight as well as significant experience in managing the complex, large-scale, global retail functions of merchandising and supply chain," said Lowell C. McAdam, Verizon chairman and CEO.

    The addition of Tesija brings Verizon's total board membership to 12.
