  • Savings.com launches real-time pricing app

    Los Angeles – Online coupon/deals site Savings.com, is launching the PriceJump mobile application for iOS. The new app leverages real-time pricing data from more than 5,000 online retailers, local stores and Amazon.com to find shoppers the lowest price on any item they want to buy.

  • Fitch sees holiday sales up 3% to 4%; gross margins flat; promotions intense

    NEW YORK - Fitch expects U.S. sales growth to modestly improve in the coming holiday season, with retail sales (excluding auto) expected to grow at 3%-4% in November/December versus 2.8% year to date. Fitch expects online sales will grow in the 12%-14% range during the fourth quarter, in line with year to date levels.

    Data privacy and security remain top concerns for retailers. There is good reason for that.  The Target breach compromised approximately 70 million records. The Home Depot breach potentially impacted another 60 million consumers. As I write this article, reports are being made public about a breach involving the office supply retailer Staples. We can no longer deny that cybercrime is a real and growing threat to the retail sector.

  • Survey: Consumer electronics hot item this holiday, with Amazon and Walmart top destinations

    ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - It’s going to be a very good holiday for consumer electronics purchases, according to a survey by IHS Inc., with seven out of 10 U.S. consumers (68%) planning to buy consumer electronics during the 2014 holiday season.   
  • Forever 21 to open at The Shops at SkyView Center

    Flushing, New York - The Shops at Sky View Center announced that Forever 21 has signed a lease with plans to open at the Queens shopping destination this coming spring. The store, to be located on Level D across from Nordstrom Rack, will occupy a 10,093 sq. ft.

  • Report: Retailers to watch this holiday season

    Worthington, OhioAmazon and Nordstrom shoppers plan to increase their holiday spending the most compared to other shoppers, according to a survey by Prosper Insights & Analytics.  The report, “Holiday 2014: Retailers to Watch,”  finds that while overall holiday spending plans are up this holiday season, shoppers will still be looking for sales and big discounts and spending only what they have to, making waves for retailers to navigate this year.
