  • Sears and Kmart to open on Thanksgiving

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears Holdings announced that both Sears and Kmart stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day. The company said its made the decision based in part on feedback from members of its Shop Your Way loyalty program, who sought more flexible Black Friday in-store shopping times and eagerness to shop doorbuster deals.

  • Eastern retailers prepare for Hurricane Sandy

    New York -- As Hurricane Sandy bears down on the northeastern U.S., retailers are doing more than stocking up on emergency supplies for their customers – they are making preparations to protect themselves.

    According to a Friday report by MarketWatch, Sears Holdings Corp., for example, has a 45-person crisis command team in place to stay in close communication with its personnel housed at Sears and Kmart stores in the at-risk areas.

  • Sears taps Teradata for database analytics expansion

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Teradata, the analytic data solutions company, announced that Sears Holdings has upgrades its existing Teradata analytic environment with the Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse Platform 6690, which leverages both SSD and HDD storage.

    Sears has also added the new Teradata ADW Private Cloud with Elastic Performance on Demand for on-demand business analytics.

  • Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores spin-off to trade on Nasdaq

    New York -- Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc. is set to begin trading on the Nasdaq Capital Market on Friday after Sears Holdings Corp. completed a spin-off transaction of the home appliances, hardware, tools and garden equipment retailer.

    Sears Holdings received $446.5 million in proceeds in the transaction, including a $100 million dividend paid by Sears Hometown prior to the separation and about $347 million from a rights offering.
