  • Mobility pushes Neiman Marcus to up its networking game

Digital disruptors continue to change the pace of retail — and Neiman Marcus is ready.   Like many retailers, the luxury department store chain continues to introduce more mobile technology at store-level, a move that supports both in-store operations and consumer-driven tasks, from browsing through procurement.    “It is a trend that requires our network to be a mission-critical lifeline at every store,” said Scott Emmons, head of the Neiman Marcus Innovation Lab (iLab).
  • A retail journey

IoT promises to deliver coveted seamless shopping experience, enterprise-wide visibility

To remain relevant in an omnichannel retailing world, brands must evolve operations to satisfy the way people shop. Armed with the Internet of Things (IoT), retailers position themselves to leverage the necessary operations to engage digitally savvy customers in an ever-changing business landscape.

  • New store-supply-chain scenario

Supply chain visibility is important in omnichannel success. The Internet of Things could be the perfect tool to keep inventory hiccups throughout the demand chain to a minimum.

“While many retailers have a mind-set that IoT is about satisfying customers and not moving product, supply chain IoT use cases still interest retailers,” said Steve Rowen, managing partner at Retail Systems Research.

  • Tech Bytes: Three steps to creating a ‘mobile’ pop-up

The signs of fall are definitely upon us. The weather is finally dropping into the 70s on the east coast. Summer’s green leaves are slowly transitioning to rich autumn hues. You can’t escape “Pumpkin Spice.” And of course, the biggest sign of fall: Halloween pop-up stores.
  • Augmenting Pokemon Go for retail

The Pokemon Go app has exploded in popularity since its July 5 release in the U.S.
  • Digital retailing in a faster, more demanding world

Consumer expectations are increasing and retailers are keeping up—but their trading partners are lagging.

This is one of the key takeaways from the fourth annual industry benchmark survey by Retail Systems Research (RSR) commissioned by SPS Commerce. The goal of the survey was to examine the internal and external forces driving today’s retail ecosystem, an industry that has evolved more in the past decade than in the past century. That evolution continues this year, with three critical drivers at the forefront:

  • Survey: Omnichannel drives retailer tech priorities

The need to provide a seamless customer experience is having a big impact on the types of solutions retailers are trying to implement.

According the new Retail Industry Insight benchmark report conducted by Retail Systems Research for SPS Commerce Inc., e-commerce and stores have switched places as the top growth driver for retail IT purchases. Retailers rank growing e-commerce sales as their top priority (75%) followed by improving the in-store experience (53%).

  • Omnichannel: What you need to know for 2015

If you think embracing omnichannel is tough, you’re not alone. According to the third annual Retail Insight industry benchmark report, 94% of retailers, suppliers and logistics firms surveyed haven’t executed a longterm omnichannel strategy, and 37% don’t even have one.
