  • PEBB acquires second Tennessee property

    PEBB Enterprises has acquired Germantown Village Square in Memphis, its second property in Tennessee.   The Boca Raton-based REIT paid $28 million for the 199,629-sq.-ft. mixed-use power center, which houses TJ Maxx, DSW, and Petco alongside office space predominantly occupied The West Clinic, a subsidiary of Baptist Memorial Health Services.  
  • CBL sells outlet center for $130 million

    The Outlet Shoppes at Oklahoma City was acquired this week by an unnamed buyer, reported CBL & Associates, which co-owned the center with Horizon Group Properties.   "The Outlet Shoppes at Oklahoma City was the first project we developed with Horizon and has been a huge success,” said Stephen Lebovitz, CBL’s president & CEO. “We are pleased to demonstrate the value of our outlet portfolio and provide additional liquidity to reduce leverage and help fund our redevelopment program."  
  • Brixmor credits redevelopment for strong quarter

    Same property net operating income during the first quarter was up 3.2% at Brixmor Property Group thanks to aggressive redevelopment efforts, said the company’s CEO.    "While the overall retail environment brought an increase in announced retail bankruptcies and store closings, our portfolio continued to benefit from healthy tenant demand, resulting in 1.9 million sq. ft. of new and renewal leases executed in the first quarter at blended comparable rent spreads of 16.4%," said James Taylor in a statement.
  • Leadership shakeup, layoffs at Etsy

    There’s been a couple of change in the C-suite of hand-made goods marketplace Etsy.   The company said chairman and CEO Chad Dickerson is stepping down, to be succeeded as CEO by board member Josh Silverman, effective May 3. Fred Wilson, who has served as lead independent director of the Etsy board, since October 2014, will succeed Dickerson as chairman.  
  • Inland’s Goodwin gets lifetime service award

    Daniel Goodwin, chairman and CEO of Inland Real Estate Group, was presented with the first Lifetime Achievement Award ever bestowed by Illinois Realtors, a century-old trade association with 44,000 members.   “Dan Goodwin is an example of that rare person who excels not only as a businessman, but also as a compassionate leader who is interested in helping others realize the dream of property ownership,” said Doug Carpenter, president of Illinois Realtors.  
  • San Diego center gets six new tenants

    A San Diego strip center that underwent a repositioning and renovation over the past two years is welcoming six new tenants.   The Presidio, which sits below the 18th Century Presidio fortress in the Linda Vista community has transformed its retail lineup with the signings of Rip Curl, Luv Bridal, Hopsy, Babe Kombucha, West Coast Veterinary Hospital, and Sharetea.  
  • Free People to cap off re-made Princeton center

    Madison Marquette’s transformation of the MarketFair center in West Windsor, New Jersey, will be complete with next week’s opening of the first Free People store in the Princeton area.   Free People has become a sought-after retail brand known for bringing new creative flair to women’s apparel retailing.  
  • Solana Beach center is acquired for $33 million

    A Chicago-based fund manager has acquired BeachWalk on Highway 101 in Solana Beach, California, for $33.25 million.   "True coastal retail projects like BeachWalk seldom come to market,” said John Read of CBRE’s National Retail Partners West unit, which represented the seller, the Orange County-based Muller Company. Solana Beach is north of San Diego.
