  • Guess names CFO

    Los Angeles -- Guess? has appointed Sandeep Reddy as CFO, effective Aug. 1. He replaces interim CFO Nigel Kershaw.

    Reddy has led the Guess Europe Finance Team as CFO since September 2010. He previously held senior financial roles for Mattel Inc. in Europe and the U.S.

     

  • HIT acquisition, Barbie sales dip affect Mattel’s Q2

    EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Mattel reported net income of $73.3 million for the second quarter ended June 30, a 23% decrease from $96.2 million for the same period last year. 

    The dip in profits reflects, in part, investments the company has made, such as its acquisition of HIT Entertainment, as it positions itself for future growth, according to chairman and CEO Bryan G. Stockton.

  • Toy State gets keys to Hot Wheels brand

    NORWOOD, Mass. — Hot Wheels has entered into a licensing agreement with Toy State, a leading manufacturer of licensed and highly stylized lights-and-sound toy vehicles. 

    The agreement, which runs through 2016, gives Toy State the green light to design and build a new line of high-octane custom versions of Hot Wheels remote-controlled and lights-and-sound toys.

    The Mattel Brands consumer products group has identified global business category leaders and a global creative team to further support growth, ensure product quality and create a meaningful differentiation for partners and consumers.

    Retailers are poised to benefit from the June 14 release of The Man of Steel and the extensive licensing activity connected to the latest Superman reboot. Warner Bros. Consumer Products has launched a broad, multi-category licensing program with a variety of global licensees to support the highly anticipated film.

  • Former Dow Chemical VP named to doll company board

    HOUSTON — One World Holdings has appointed Wilma Delaney, former VP of federal, state and provincial governmental and regulatory affairs for Dow Chemical, to its board of directors.

    "We are very pleased to welcome Wilma to the One World board," said Joanne Melton, CEO of One World Holdings. "Wilma brings deep expertise in corporate governance and global market expansion that will prove invaluable as One World continues its growth trajectory."

  • Build-A-Bear Workshop names former Stride Rite exec as new CEO

    St. Louis -- Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. has appointed Sharon Price John, 49, as CEO, effective immediately. John, who previously served as president of Stride Rite Children’s Group, a division of Wolverine Worldwide, succeeds company founder Maxine Clark, who is retiring as CEO. Clark will remain on the board of directors.

  • New bear-in-chief for Build-A-Bear Workshop

    ST. LOUIS — Build-A-Bear Workshop’s board of directors has appointed Sharon Price John as CEO and chief president bear. She replaces Maxine Clark, who announced earlier this year her plans to retire from her chief executive bear position. 

    Clark will remain a member of the board.
