  • Foot Locker delivers solid Q2

    NEW YORK — Despite experiencing some challenges, particularly in the U.S., Foot Locker reported a comparable-store sales of 1.8% for the second quarter ended Aug. 3.

  • Foot Locker Q2 up 12%

    New York -- Foot Locker's second-quarter net income increased 12%, partly due to a recent acquisition. (In July, the retailer completed its purchase of German athletic store chain Runners Point Group for $94 million.)

    For the period ended Aug. 3, the company earned $66 million, compared to $59 million a year ago. Its results were in line with expectations.

    Revenue rose 6.4% to $1.45 billion from $1.37 billion, in line with expectations. Same-store sales rose 1.8%.

  • Veteran retailer Allen Questrom joins Men’s Wearhouse board

    Fremont, Calif. -- Allen I. Questrom, who has held CEO and other senior executive positions at several major retailers in the past 40 years, has joined the board of directors of The Men’s Wearhouse. With the addition of Questrom, currently a member of the boards of directors of Sotheby's and the Glazer family of companies, Men’s Wearhouse has nine directors, seven of whom are independent.

    FREMONT, Calif. — The Men's Wearhouse has appointed retail industry veteran Allen I. Questrom to its board of directors.

    Questrom’s addition brings the Men's Wearhouse board to a total of nine directors, seven of whom are independent.

  • Foot Locker acquires Runners Point Group in Germany

    New York -- Foot Locker has completed the acquisition of Runners Point Group, a specialty athletic store and online retailer based in Recklinghausen, Germany.

    With 200 stores located principally in Germany under the Runners Point and Sidestep banners and online business, Runners Point Group will boost Foot Locker’s European store count to 800 and add $254 million to the company’s European revenues of more than $1 billion.

     

  • Foot Locker completes acquisition of Runners Point

    New York -- Foot Locker said that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Runners Point Group, the specialty athletic store and online retailer based in Recklinghausen, Germany. The results of the two companies will be combined with an effective date of July 7, 2013.

    Runners Point Group operates more than 200 athletic retail stores, principally in Germany under the Runners Point and Sidestep banners, as well as an online business. It had sales in 2012 of $254 million.
