  • Foot Locker names COO

    New York -- Foot Locker Inc. said Thursday that current executive VP and retail group president Richard Johnson as been promoted to COO, giving the company veteran operational oversight of all the retailer’s banners. The appointment is effective immediately.

    Along with its namesake Foot Locker stores, the company also operates Champs Sports, Kids Foot Locker and CCS.
     

  • Le Club to open at Country Club Plaza

    Country Club Hills, Ill. -- Midwestern shopping center owner/developer Tucker Development announced that Le Club has signed a lease at Country Club Plaza, located in the southern portion of Country Club Hills, Ill.

    The woman’s apparel retailer, which operates four locations throughout the Chicago metropolitan area, will occupy a 2,500-sq.-ft. inline space at the 450,000-sq.-ft. center. According to Tucker’s VP leasing Adam Moschin, approximately 5,600 sq. ft. of space remains available for lease.

    New York City -- In a conference call to investors on Tuesday, Foot Locker announced an updated strategic plan and financial initiatives intended to elevate the retailer’s performance for the 2012 to 2016 period.

  • Foot Locker profit surges on higher sales, cost cuts

    NEW YORK — Foot Locker Inc. grew its fourth-quarter profit 42% amid higher sales and cost cuts.

    The company earned a better-than-expected $81 million in the three months that ended Jan. 28, up from $57 million in the year-ago period.

    Revenue increased 8% to $1.5 billion, from $1.39 billion. Same-store sales were up 7.5% in quarter.

    During fiscal 2011, Foot Locker opened 70 new stores, relocated or remodeled 182, and closed 127. The chain had 3,369 total stores as of Jan. 28, down from 3,426 at the end of the previous fiscal year.

  • Footlocker opens at Hancock Center

    Austin, Texas -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said that Footlocker has opened at Hancock Center, located in Austin, Texas. The retailer opened a 2,946-sq.-ft. store, and will be joined by Family Chiropractic, which is slated to open an 1,100-sq.-ft. center in November.

    The 410,437-sq.-ft. neighborhood center is anchored by a 90,217-sq.-ft. H-E-B alongside national retailers such as Petco, Quiznos and 24 Hour Fitness.
     

  • Footlocker makes mid-year executive moves

    Richard Johnson and Robert McHugh have seen their responsibilities expanded at Foot Locker, as the footwear retailer looks to enhance its focus on its retail and direct-to-customer business segments.
