    The retail industry is ever-changing, with shoppers now looking to malls as a place of both business and socialization. A constant evolution of attractions is needed to entice them to visit a center and then keep them coming back on a consistent basis.

  • Dick's Sporting Goods scores with omnichannel

    The CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods says the growth of the retailer’s omnichannel network and improved marketing led to better-than-expected earnings in the fourth quarter.

    Edward Stack, chairman and CEO at Dick’s, said the company reported a profit of $156 million, or $1.30 a share, up from a profit of $139 million, or $1.11 a share, a year earlier. Revenue grew 11% to $2.16 billion. Same store sales jumped 3.4%.

  • Dick’s Sporting Goods Q4 profit, sales top estimates; opening 54 stores in 2015

    Pittsburgh – Strong omnichannel performance, as well as successful marketing and merchandising execution, helped Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. deliver fourth quarter fiscal 2014 net income beyond previously issued guidance. Dick’s reported net income of $155.5 million, up 12% from $138.6 million a year earlier.

    Dick’s plans to open 54 new stores during fiscal 2015, including 45 namesake stores and nine Field & Stream stores.

  • 5th Street Station breaks ground with area’s first Wegmans

    Charlottesville, Va. -- Construction has begun on a new 73-acre, super-regional shopping center, 5th Street Station, in the heart of southern Charlottesville. 5th Street Station brings the first Wegmans store to Central Virginia, along with 335,000 sq. ft. of additional anchor, junior anchor and small-shop opportunities.  

  • Nordstrom Rack to open in Lafayette, Louisiana, in 2016

    Seattle -- Nordstrom plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at Ambassador Town Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.

    The 25,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in spring 2016. The more than 425,000-sq.-ft. Ambassador Town Center is a joint development of Stirling Properties and CBL & Associates Properties.

  • Ambassador Town Center to launch construction, development over 90% leased

    Lafayette, La. -- Ambassador Town Center, a joint venture between Stirling Properties and CBL and Associates Properties, will launch construction this month in Lafayette, Louisiana, on a 58-acre site at the corner of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Kaliste Saloom Road.

  • Hunters hurt Dick’s Q3, golfers did more damage

    A lack of golfers and hunters didn’t prevent Dick’s Sporting Goods from realizing third quarter profit expectations and increasing e-commerce penetration to a new high.

    The company’s total sales increased 9% to $1.5 billion and sames-store sales increased 1.1%, toward the low end of the company’s guidance, which envisioned a 1% to 3% increase.

  • Mid-America arranges sale of Buttermilk Towne Center

    Cincinnati -- Mid-America Real Estate Corporation’s Investment Sales team recently brokered the sale of Buttermilk Towne Center in Crescent Springs (Cincinnati MSA), Kentucky. The 277,533-sq.-ft. center was purchased by Farmington Hills, Mich.-based Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust for $42 million.
