Domino's Pizza

  • Domino’s is upping the ante on voice-activated orders

Two new projects — on three continents — are expanding the reach of Domino’s conversational-based orders.   The pizza giant, which was among the first companies to launch digital ordering on Google Home in December, is introducing the service to more users in the United States. Now guests can start a new order without having to be a member of the “Pizza Profile” rewards program — a move that opens up the service to more shoppers.
  • Study: Retailers still miss mark on mobile experience

Retailers’ mobile engagement initiatives are headed in the right direction, but shoppers are still dissatisfied.   According to DMI’s second annual “Mobile In-Store Experience Rankings” report, which assessed mobile experiences among 120 retailers, in-store mobility influences where 74% of the general population and 88% of “mobile reliants” shop.
  • Domino’s loyalty members ‘profit’ from rewards program

Domino’s is rewarding loyalty members with a “piece of the pie” — literally.    Starting Dec. 5 through Nov. 2017, all Domino’s Piece of the Pie Rewards members are eligible for a chance to win 10 free shares of Domino's stock, just for being enrolled in the program. Each month, 25 loyalty members will be randomly selected to win 10 shares of stock. They can keep the shares for their own stock portfolio or sell them at market price, the company said.
  • Pizza giant introduces bots for ordering

Domino’s customers can now place their orders without ever talking to a human.   Starting Sept. 15, Domino’s customers with a “pizza profile” on the chain’s website can place orders via bot-based Facebook Messenger. The pizza chain's in-house team, which created zero-click ordering via Amazon Echo and Apple Watch, also developed Domino's new ordering bot.
  • Commentary: The false fight over job loss

Let’s talk about pizza, shall we? A truly historic and transformative moment occurred in Cincinnati, Ohio early this month that changes the way college students can satisfy their late night munchies. Xavier University installed the nation’s first Pizza ATM. It’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and serves up fresh, restaurant-quality pizza cooked in minutes. The school’s dining service announced the occasion with a Tweet that reads, “One small step for pepperoni, one giant leap for pizzakind.”
  • Domino’s orders Super Bowl stability

For a pizza retailer like Domino’s Super Bowl Sunday is the equivalent of Black Friday in terms of omnichannel traffic and order volume.

During the 2016 Super Bowl, Domino’s experienced considerably higher than usual order volumes across all channels - social, mobile, Web and in-store payments. Yet Domino’s avoided the embarrassment of any slowdown in order processing (as well as the Noid) in any channel.

  • Asda opens seamless in-store possibilities

Walmart’s U.K. subsidiary Asda is expanding what customers can do with in-store pickup and return through its new service called toyou.

  • Casey’s app meets modern customer needs

If you’re going to invest in the emerging area of mobile retail apps, you might as well build it around the latest consumer trends.

Ankeny, Iowa-based convenience chain Casey’s General Stores Inc., which operates more than 1,900 stores in 14 Midwestern states, is releasing a new app that includes functionality for the growing consumer preference for prepared meals. The app allows Casey’s customers to order pizza, made-to-order sub sandwiches and appetizers.
