  • Dollar General helps customers spring into savings

    Dollar General is thinking digital this spring with a new way to appeal to coupon-clipping customers.

    The retailer is launching a new digital coupon program called Fast Way to Save that offers customers approximately $200 each week in online coupon savings now through April 19.

    Customers will see additional weekly specials on dozens of discounts on Easter merchandise and a buy-one, get-one free sale on select apparel and accessories, as well as its everyday low prices on thousands of items throughout the store.

    • Dollar General will open 730 new stores and remodel 875 existing locations.

    • DSW Inc. will open 35 stores, including locations in at least 12 new markets.

    • Express is ramping up its new outlet format with 30 locations.

  • Dollar General elevates counsel to EVP

    Just two years after starting the job, the general counsel at Dollar General has been promoted to executive vice president.

  • Dollar General promotes Rhonda Taylor to exec VP

    Goodlettsville, Tenn. -- Dollar General Corporation announced that Rhonda M. Taylor, currently senior VP and general counsel, has been promoted to executive VP and general counsel.

    “Rhonda is a valuable member of our executive leadership team and is a trusted advisor on legal and business issues impacting Dollar General. In addition, she provides outstanding leadership and I look forward to her continued success at Dollar General,” said Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO.

  • Dollar General will expand hours, not wages

    Goodlettsville, Tenn. – Dollar General Corp. plans to increase employee income by making more working hours available to them, as opposed to raising salaries. Seeing a need to improve its stores in the face of expanded competition from the merging Family Dollar Stores Inc. and Dollar Tree Inc., Dollar General hopes to keep shelves better stocked with more labor hours.

  • Dollar General CFO goes out on top

    David Tehle, executive vice president and CFO at Dollar General, will retire from the company effective July 1. The retailer has started a search for a successor and will consider both internal and external candidates for the job.

    The news comes as Dollar General prepares the retail industry’s most aggressive new store expansion plan.
