  • eMeal adds online meal plan for Costco customers

    Issaquah, Wash. -- Online meal planning service eMeals has debuted a new Costco Classic Family Plan that delivers 14 Costco-focused dinner menus to a customer’s smartphone or computer inbox every two weeks. Designed to take full advantage of Costco promotions and volume packaging, each installment includes family-friendly entree and side-dish recipes, plus a complete grocery list for all 14 days that is organized by Costco aisle for speedy shopping.

  • Report: Obama to visit a Costco on Wednesday

    Washington, D.C. — A day after he gives his State of the Union speech, President Obama will follow up Wednesday with visits to a Costco store in Maryland and a steel plant in Pennsylvania, USA Today reported.

    During his stop at the Costco in Lanham, which is located about 15 miles from the White House, Obama is expected to deliver remarks on the economy, the report said.

     

  • Costco's sales and comps climb in December

    Costco’s sales increased by 6% in the month of December and the first few days of January compared with December 2012.

    The Issaquah, Wash.-based company reported sales of $11.53 billion during the five weeks that ended Sunday, compared with $10.87 billion during the same period last year. Comps increased by 5% at the company's U.S. stores.

    For the 18 weeks that ended Sunday, sales were $38.33 billion, a 6% increase over the $36.26 billion in sales the company had the year before. Comps in the United States increased by 4%.
     

     

  • Costco co-founder Jim Senegal to receive NRF Gold Medal Award

    Washington, D.C. - Jim Sinegal, Costco co-founder and board member, will receive the Gold Medal Award in 2014 during the National Retail Federation (NRF) Annual Conference and Expo in New York City. In addition, NRF has named South Korea’s Lotte Shopping as the International Retailer of the Year.

    Nike has been named Retail Innovator of the Year, and Half Price Books’ Executive VP  and chief strategy officer Kathy Doyle Thomas has been selected as 2014’s Silver Plaque recipient.

  • NRF to decorate Costco co-founder Sinegal with gold

    The National Retail Federation will honor Jim Sinegal, Costco co-founder and board member, with its Gold Medal Award during Retail’s BIG Show.

    Additionally, NRF has named South Korea’s Lotte Shopping as the International Retailer of the Year. Shin Heon, president and CEO of the company, will accept the award.   • Survey: L.L. Bean, Amazon satisfy customers most during holiday

    Ann Arbor, Mich. – Amazon.com and L.L. Bean tied for the highest company-level customer satisfaction scores during the 2013 holiday season. According to the ForeSee Experience Index: 2013 U.S. Retail Edition, Amazon and L.L. Bean both scored 90, while Priceline had the lowest company-level satisfaction score (75) of 100 top retailers included in the Index.

    The study offers a comprehensive view of satisfaction at the company-level and across every applicable sales channel including store, contact center, web and mobile.
