  • Report: Gap applications surge on higher wage

    San Francisco – Gap Inc. has reportedly experienced a 10% increase in job applications since its February announcement that it would raise its minimum wage for employees to $10 per hour by 2015. According to Bloomberg, the increase has occurred across all Gap brands, including Banana Republic and Athletica, but has been most pronounced at Old Navy, where applications had previously been declining.

  • Report: Athleta on expansion track

    New York City -- Athleta, the Yoga-inspired lifestyle athletic apparel brand for women owned by Gap Inc., plans to open stores in Chicago, Boston, Houston and Denver in 2012, according to Bloomberg.

    In the report, Scott Key, senior VP and general manager, reiterated the company’s plan to open more than 50 Athleta stores by the end of 2013.

  • Gap expanding Athleta brand

    New York — Gap Inc. plans to Athleta stores at the Grove shopping center in Los Angeles and at Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach, Calif., this fall, according to the Los Angeles Times.

    Gap bought Athleta, which sells sells women’s clothing for such sports as yoga, running and swimming, along with shoes and other fitness accessories, in 2008. At the time, Athleta just an online and catalog business. The brand opened its first two retail stores in the last year, both in Northern California.
