  • Report Details Retail and Restaurant Expansion Plans

    Retailer demand for new locations is up across the board, according to ChainLinks Retail Advisors’ just-released National Retailer and Restaurant Expansion Guide. The report details the current expansion plans for hundreds of the largest U.S. retail and restaurant chains.

    “As 2010 came to a close, growth plans were up 30% from the levels we recorded last year,” said ChainLinks’ research director, Garrick Brown,/ Right now, expansion plans are up 40% over last year’s levels.”

  • Diane's Beachwear to debut in Arizona

    Irvine, Calif. -- KTGY Group, Architecture and Planning, said that Diane's Beachwear will be opening its newest store in Scottsdale, Ariz., at the Scottsdale Quarter in early March.

    The new 1,200-sq.-ft. flagship store represents the 19-store chain's debut outside of California. KTGY is the architect for the new Diane's Beachwear store.   Skyline Development and Construction of Norco, Calif., is the general contractor.

  • Apple reports record revenue for Q1

    CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Apple announced that for its first quarter ended Dec. 25, 2010, it posted record revenue of $26.74 billion and record net quarterly profit of $6 billion, or $6.43 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $15.68 billion and net quarterly profit of $3.38 billion, or $3.67 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. 

  • Apple chief out on medical leave

    CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc., has taken a medical leave of absence, Apple announced Monday.

    According to an SEC filing, Jobs will remain involved in major strategic decisions during this leave of absence, and COO Tim Cook will be responsible for Apple's day-to-day operations. 

    In a letter to company employees, Jobs wrote, "I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy."

  • City Sports and Things Remembered deploy Global Bay’s iPad Kiosk

    New York City -- Global Bay Mobile Technologies, a provider of next-generation mobile retail software, announced that City Sports and Things Remembered are the first retailers to deploy the Global Bay iPad Kiosk solution, a module that leverages the Apple iPad into an in-store kiosk.
