  • Report: Bankrupt teen apparel chain in negotiations with Versa Capital

    Aeropostale is negotiating a potential sale to private equity firm Versa Capital Management LLC, Reuters reported. Versa specializes in distressed investments.      In court papers filed at the end of last week,the retailer said it has been in discussions with Versa regarding a possible stalking horse bid at the chain’s bankruptcy auction later this month. The bid by Versa could include a cash payment for Aéropostale’s inventory, and the assumption of more than 500  
  • End of the road for former teen apparel giant?

    It appears that Aeropostale Inc., which declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May, will be selling its assets rather than reorganizing.       The teen retailer said in court papers that “reorganization on a standalone basis is not feasible.” Instead, it will look for a “stalking horse” to make the lead bid at an auction next month, Bloomberg reported.

  • Aeropostale files Chapter 11; store closings include exit from Canada

    In a move rumored for weeks, Aéropostale on Wednesday filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

    The struggling teen apparel retailer said it would close 113 stores in the United States and all 41 of its stores in Canada. Store closing sales in the United States will begin this weekend (May 7-8), and in Canada during the week of May 9.

  • Report: Teen retailer on brink of Chapter 11

    Aeropostale will reportedly file for bankruptcy protection this week and subsequently close more than 100 of its 800 stores, according to The Wall Street Journal.

    The struggling teen apparel retailer plans to reorganize under a Chapter 11 filing this week ahead of May rent payments, the report said. On Aeropostale has been struggling for some time. The chain has recorded three consecutive years of losses as its struggles to deal with a teen audience whose spending tastes now favor fast-fashion giants such as H&M as well as online retailers.

  • Aeropostale gets delisted from NYSE

    Troubled teen retailer Aeropostale Inc. has been dealt another blow.

    On Friday, the New York Stock Exchange suspended trading of the retailer’s stock with immediate effect, due to an "abnormally low" trading price.

    Aeropostale does not intend to appeal the delisting. It said its shares will instead be traded on the OTCQX Best Market, an over-the-counter market operated by OTC Markets Group Inc. The new ticker is "AROP".
