Close-out retailer Ocean State Job Lot honored as a 2026 ‘US Best Managed Company’
A leading closeout retailer known for its “Crazy Deals” has been honored in a program that recognizes outstanding U.S. private companies.
Rhode Island-based Ocean State Job Lots, which has 175 stores across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, has been selected as a 2026 U.S. Best Managed Company. The program is sponsored by Deloitte Private and The Wall Street Journal.
The family-run retailer also earned the distinction of Gold Honoree — companies that have been recognized as a Best Managed Company for four to six years — reflecting consistent achievement and a commitment to ongoing development and growth. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Ocean State Job Lot has been recognized as a US Best Managed Company.

Applicants are evaluated and selected by a panel of independent judges focused on assessing hallmarks of excellence in four key areas: strategy, ability to execute, corporate culture, and governance/financial performance.
