A familiar face is temporarily taking the chief executive position at Claire's Holdings LLC.

Chris Cramer, who was named CFO and COO of the young women’s jewelry and accessories retailer in November 2023, has been appointed as interim CEO. He succeeds Ryan Vero, who has stepped down as CEO and from the company's board.  Vero had served in the role since July 2019, joining the company from Party City. No reason was given for his departure.

Cramer, who will continue to serve in his roles as CFO and COO,  has helped oversee efforts at Claire's that include the opening of the retailer's first store in Mexico in December 2023, as well as a partnership to bring its products to more than 4,400 Walgreens locations nationwide launched in March 2024.

"Since joining Claire's last year, Chris has demonstrated extensive operational and financial leadership and helped drive our strategic roadmap," said Samantha Algaze, chairman of the Claire's board of managers. "His impressive track record and more than 25 years of industry experience make him the ideal executive to lead Claire's as we move forward.

“On behalf of the board, I want to thank Ryan for his service to Claire's," said Algaze. “As we look ahead, Claire's is poised to build on its position as a powerful, global fashion brand and a true destination for today's consumer."

"I am honored to serve as interim CEO and appreciate the Board's confidence and support at this important time for Claire's," said Cramer. "I look forward to working closely with the leadership team and the board to build on the company's recent momentum, strengthen our relationships with our customers, partners, and employees, and further realize our growth potential."

"It has been an enormous privilege to serve as the CEO of Claire's and I am proud of all we accomplished,” said Vero. “Having worked closely with Chris since he joined Claire's, I have the utmost confidence in his ability to lead the company."

Prior to joining Claire's, Cramer previously spent over 20 years with Bath & Body Works Inc. and its parent company L Brands in leadership roles including most recently as COO. He also previously served as president of Parade Inc., a Gen Z-focused intimate and lifestyle apparel retailer; and also held leadership positions at IBM and Accenture (Andersen Consulting).

Claire’s is available in more than 40 retailers globally including Macy’s, CVS, Amazon, Albertsons, Asda, Tesco, DSW, Galleries Lafayette, Kroger, Matalan, Toy Center, Madeleine, Toys “R” Us and more in addition to the brand’s more than 2,750 stores worldwide.
