China-based Miniso on track to open about 30 more stores this year — here are the locations

A global discount retailer continues to grow its U.S. footprint.

Miniso, which opened its first U.S. stores in 2017, in California, now has nearly 80 locations in 17 states, and has entered into partnerships with real estate developers that include Simon, Macerich, Brookfield, Westfield, and Taubman. By the end of 2023, the company plans to have stores in 28 states and expand its presence to over 100 locations. (See end of article for locations.)

In May, Miniso opened a 5,400-sq.-ft.  flagship in Times Square in New York City. Located on the first floor of 5 Times Square, the store features more than 2,500 items with nine dedicated product zones, including licensed collections, “blind box” collectibles, toys, plushies, fragrances, accessories, makeup tools, stationary and snacks.  The mix includes an emphasis on licensed products from international brands such as Sanrio, parent company of Hello Kitty.

Miniso said the Times Square store set new records for both first-day and first-month sales among the brand's over 5,500 global stores. During its inaugural month, the location recorded sales with over 60,000 consumer visits, equating to approximately eight times higher than the average sales of the other nearly 80 stores in the United States.

“The performance milestone reflects the brand's growing influence in the United States and strengthens its confidence in expanding further,” the company said.
