Camp offers immersive Encanto experience at its NYC flagship store

Experiential retailer Camp is continuing its partnership with Disney.

Camp, which describes itself as a family experience company, has opened “Disney Encanto x CAMP” at its New York City flagship on Fifth Avenue. The 6,000-sq.ft. experience is designed to transport families into the magical world of Disney Animation Studios’ Academy Award-winning Encanto, which is about a multigenerational Colombian family, the Madrigals.

Inspired by the film and created in collaboration with Disney, the experience includes an hour-long visit to the Madrigals' Casita. Guests can climb up and around Antonio's rainforest, spin through Isabela's flower-filled room, slide down into the Courtyard and more.

It also features interactive scenes inspired by the film and uniquely created for Camp, including Luisa's and Pepa's never-before-seen rooms and cousin Dolores' “soundscape door.” The voices of several of the film’s characters are heard throughout the experience.

Live singalongs to the film's favorite tunes, including "We Don't Talk About Bruno," are led by Camp “counselors” (employees) throughout the experience.

The experience also includes a retail component, with exclusive merchandise inspired by the film. Guests can shop in the Encanto town square for customizable character-based clothing and accessories, books and felt jewelry, with the items all displayed in a series of colorful merchant carts.

"This first-of-its-kind show will transport families into the beautiful world of Encanto, bringing to life the magic shared between Camp and Disney," said Ben Kaufman, co-founder and CEO, Camp.

Disney Encanto x Camp will be in New York for a limited time before moving to another Camp location. Camp was a participant in the 2021 Disney Accelerator, a business development program designed to accelerate the growth of innovative companies from around the world.

Camp debuted its first themed experience in partnership with Disney in April 2022, opening Mickey & Friends x CAMP: An Extra Big Adventure," at its New York City flagship.

"Bringing together Disney's extraordinary storytelling and immersive retail experiences allows us to dream bigger and create special offerings for families," said Hubert Liu, senior VP business planning and franchise development, Disney Consumer Products, Games and Publishing. "Our continued collaboration with Camp is an exciting example of our commitment to engaging with our fans in new ways.

Launched in 2018, Camp operates nine retail locations, with stores in California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Texas.
