•Sprouts Farmers Market promoted Curtis Valentine to CFO, effective Jan. 1. Valentine, currently Sprouts’ senior VP of finance, will succeed Lawrence (“Chip”) Molloy, who is retiring.

•Guitar Center made a change at the top, naming Gabriel Dalporto as CEO, effective immediately. He replaces Ron Japinga, who has served in the role since August 2016. No reason was given for his departure.

•P.F. Chang's China Bistro appointed Eduardo Luz as CEO and president.  He joined the
restaurant chain from Panera Bread, where he has been chief brand and concept officer since October 2023.

•American Eagle Outfitters Inc. named Sarah Clarke executive VP, chief supply chain officer. She joins AEO from PVH Corporation, parent company of Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein.

•Costco Wholesale Club longtime CEO Craig Jelinekplans to step down, effective Jan. 1, 2024. He will be succeeded at that time by Ron Vachris, who has served as Costco’s president and COO since February 2022.

•Following its acquisition by an investment firm, David’s Bridal promoted two executives to C-level positions: Bob Walker was named COO, and Rob Cooper was named CFO. 

•Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy and named Jeffrey S. Stein as CEO, chief restructuring officer and a member of the board of directors, effective immediately.

•Party City Holdco Inc. completed its restructuring and emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In connection with the restructuring, CEO Brad Weston resigned, with  Sean Thompson, currently president and chief commercial officer, named as interim CEO.

•In a move that caught the industry by surprise, Todd Vasos was appointed CEO of Dollar General, succeeding Jeff Owen who was named to the role in November 2022. Vasos previously served as Dollar General’s CEO from June 2015 to November 2022.

•Walgreens Boots Alliance tapped health care executive Tim Wentworth as its new chief executive officer, succeeding  Rosalind Brewer who departed August after less than three years on the job. 

•Lamps Plus named Jason Goldberger as CEO. Most recently, from 2021 to 2023, he served as CEO of Dollar Shave Club. Before that, he was the chief executive of Sur La Table.
