Lamps Plus has named a seasoned executive with more than 30 years of retail and digital experience.

The specialty lighting retailer appointed Jason Goldberger as CEO, effective September 18, 2023. He succeeds co-founder Dennis Swanson who will remain on the board, using his decades of experience to advise Goldberger, the company said.

Most recently, from 2021 to 2023, Goldberger served as CEO of Dollar Shave Club. Before that, he was the chief executive of Sur La Table.

From 2017 to 2019, Goldberger was president and CEO of Blue Nile. He also served as chief digital officer and president target.com from 2013 to 2016.

Goldberger also served in executive positions at Gilt.com and Hayneedle. Earlier in his career, he was a director-general manager at Amazon and the lighting buyer at Linens ‘N Things.

Goldberger joins Lamps Plus approximately 14 months after Nexus Capital Management LP announced their investment in the company.

"We are extremely excited to be the first institutional capital partnering with Dennis and Manja Swanson, the founders of Lamps Plus" said Damian Giangiacomo, partner at Nexus, in a release announcing the investment. "Lamps Plus is an iconic brand with a national presence and we look forward to supporting the company's next phase of growth."

Earlier this year, the company named David Luebke as its first-ever chief marketing officer. He most recently served as VP of marketing at Build.com (a Ferguson company).

Prior to that, from 2010 to 2018, Luebke was at Walmart, with his most recent position, being director of digital marketing at Walmart.

Based in Los Angeles, Lamps Plus began as a brick & mortar retailer in Southern California and over time has transitioned its business towards the e-commerce channel. The company operates 34 physical stores, including 21 in California.

Lamps Plus offers more than 96,000 SKUs across lighting and other furniture categories.
