C-Suite Moves: May update
Here are the major C-suite changes that occurred in May, starting with the most recent. (All changes have already taken effect unless otherwise noted.)
•Lidl U.S. has named its sixth CEO since the discount grocer opened its U.S. headquarters in 2025. Company veteran Alan Barry will step into the CEO role in July. He will succeed Joel Rampoldt, who left in January, moving into an advisory role with the German-owned company.
•Jamie Gersch was named chief marketing officer of Fanatics Commerce, The direct-to-consumer fan apparel platform within Fanatics. Most recently, she served as chief marketing officer at sustainable footwear brand Rothy's.
• Former Walmart executive Jeff England was named as executive VP, chief global supply chain and logistics officer for Target Corp. England joins Target from building-products distributor QXO, where he served as chief supply chain officer. Prior to that, he was chief supply chain officer at Genuine Parts Company.
• Gap Inc. tapped Donald Kohler as global brand president and CEO of its Banana Republic division. Most recently, Kohler was with PVH Corp., where he served as CEO of PVH Americas.
•Brad Weston is set to retire as CEO of value home furnishings company At Home Group at the end of June. The company has started a search for the company’s next chief executive officer.
•Jennifer Hyman is departing as CEO, president and board member of Rent the Runway, which she co-founded 18 years ago. She will stay on an advisor through January. Rent the Runway board member Teri Bariquit, a Nordstrom veteran who most recently served as chief merchandising officer, will serve as interim chief and president.
• The supervisory board of Netherlands-based supermarket giant Ahold Delhaize nominated Thierry Garnier for appointment as a member of the management board and to serve as the company’s next president and CEO. He is expected to succeed Frans Muller around the annual general meeting of shareholders in April 2027.
•Veteran brand and marketing veteran Michael Francis was appointed chief customer office at Old Navy, and head of marketing shared services at Gap Inc. Francis has held senior leadership roles across retail, entertainment and consumer brands, but best known for his role at Target, where, as chief marketing officer, he played a key role in creating the discounter’s “cheap chic” image.
•Rack Room Shoes appointed Mike Edwards as CEO. Edwards, who most recently served as president of Famous Footwear, succeeds Mark Lardie, who retired as president and CEO of Rack Room after serving in the role since 2012.
•Carter’s Inc. named Sharon Price John as CEO and president, succeeding Douglas C. Palladini who exited the company. John joined Carter’s from Build-A-Bear Workshop, which she had led for 13 years.
