C-Suite Moves: March update
Here are the major C-suite changes that occurred in March, in the order they were announced. (All changes have already taken effect unless otherwise noted.)
- REI Co-op named Kristin Shane as chief merchandising officer. Most recently, she served as chief merchandising and marketing office for Guitar Center.
- The longtime CEO of Primark resigned following a company investigation into his behavior towards a woman in a “social environment.” Paul Marchant had served as chief executive of the global value fashion brand since 2009.
- Etsy appointed Rafe Colburn as chief technology officer. Peter Semple was appointed interim CEO of Depop, Etsy’s fashion resale marketplace. Both appointments are effective May 5.
- Sheila Shekar Pollak was named chief marketing officer of brand Madison Reed. Most recently, she served as chief brand officer of outdoor apparel and good retailer Orvis. She also spent more than nine years at Athleta.
- Carter’s Inc. named Douglas Palladini as CEO, president and a member of the board of directors. Most recently, he has served as founder and owner of Kickstand, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in brand strategy, executive coaching, and organizational design. He previously served as global brand president of Vans, a division of V.F. Corporation, for more than five years until April 2022.
- The CEO of The Container Store, Satish Malhotra, resigned, leaving nearly two months after the chain exited bankruptcy. He joined the company as CEO in 2022 after previously serving as the chief retail and operating officer of Sephora.

- Five Below tapped Jacob Hawkins as chief marketing officer. Most recently, he served as chief marketing, digital and omni officer at Forever 21 (since 2022). Prior to that, Hawkins spent some four years at Belk.
- QVC Group named Alex Wellen as president and chief growth officer. He joins from MotorTrend Group, a leader in media for automotive enthusiasts, serving as president and CEO since July 2018.
- John Szczepanski was named CFO of The Children's Place. He most recently served as CFO of Vince Holding Corp.
- Fossil Group appointed Randy Greben as CFO. Most recently, he served as chief financial and operating officer at Casper Sleep.
- The Kroger Co. named Yael Cosset, senior VP and CIO, to the additional role of executive VP and chief digital officer.
- Beyond Inc., the owner of Bed Bath & Beyond, Overstock and Buy Buy Baby, named executive chairman Marcus Lemonis as the company’s principal executive officer.
- Sleep Number Corp. appointed Linda Findley as president and CEO and as a member of the board. Most recently, from 2019 to 2024, she served as CEO at Blue Apron Holdings.
- Sumit Anand to was named executive VP and chief information officer of Academy Sports + Outdoors. He joined Academy from At Home, where he served as chief strategy officer and chief information officer since June 2018.
- Dollar Tree appointed Stewart Glendinning as CFO. He joined the chain in January as chief transformation officer. Prior to Dollar Tree, Glendinning served as CEO of apparel retailer Express for more than a year.
- David’s Bridal promoted Kelly Cook, president of brand, technology and finance, to the role of CEO, succeeding Jim Marcum, who has become executive chairman.
- Price Club announced that David Price, who currently serves as executive VP, chief transformation officer and board member, will become CEO, effective Sept. 1. He will succeed his father, Robert Price, who has served as interim chief since February 2023, and will become executive chairman.
- Susan Morris, executive VP and COO of Albertsons Cos., will assume the role of CEO following the planned retirement of current CEO Vivek Sankaran, effective May 1, 2025.
- Rodney McMullin, CEO of The Kroger Co., resigned from the grocery store giant following a board investigation of his personal conduct that was unrelated to the business but “inconsistent” with Kroger's policy on business ethics.
