C-Suite Moves: April update

Welcome to C-Suite Moves, Chain Store Age’s monthly roundup of the top C-suite moves across the retail industry.

Here are the major leadership changes that occurred during April, starting with the most recent. (All changes have already taken effect unless otherwise noted.)

•Rob Walton, the eldest son of Sam Walton, will retire from his position on the Walmart board at the end of his term on June 5. He is the longest-serving Walmart board member. Walmart has nominated Brian Niccol, chairman and CEO of Chipotle Mexican Grill, to replace Walton on the board.

•Follett Higher Education Group, North America’s largest campus retailer, tapped technology and infrastructure Mani Suri as its new chief information officer. Prior to joining Follett, he served as CIO at Ulta Beauty. 

•Ahold Delhaize USA appointed company veteran Kim Lyda as chief legal officer. She previously served as senior VP of the business integrity group at Retail Business Services, a former Ahold Delhaize USA services company

•California-based apparel brand Brixton named Seth Ellison as CEO. He most recently served as executive VP, chief commercial officer for Levi Strauss & Co., after having served for a decade in roles including Levi's brand interim president, president of Levi's Europe, and global president of the Dockers brand.

•Struggling video game retailer Game Stop revealed in an SEC filing that COO Nir Patel had departed the company. 

•Fast-growing chain Marco’s Pizza promoted restaurant and hospitality industry veteran John Meyers to the role of COO. 

•Jack Schwefel resigned as CEO of luxury apparel retailer Vince Holding Corp. The board appointed David (“Dave”) Stefko, current director and former CFO of Vince, as interim chief and has started the search to identify a permanent chief.

•Midwest grocery chain Hy-Vee named Jessica Hendrix as chief marketing officer and president of its Red Media division. She most recently spent nine years as president & CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi X, a full-service and shopper marketing agency of parent company Publicis Groupe.
