  • Simon receives sustainability recognition

    Indianapolis — Simon Property Group has received recognition for its sustainable efforts.

    First, SPG has been named to the 2013 CDP Global 500 Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). The annual index highlights FTSE Global 500 companies that demonstrate leadership through disclosure of information regarding climate change and score within the top 10% of the five hundred companies assessed. This is SPG’s fifth CDLI award and its third due to top score on disclosure of green house gas emissions and energy use.

  • Parent company of Bi-Lo, Winn Dixie going public

    Southeastern Grocers, parent company of Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie supermarkets, has filed a registration statement on a proposed initial public offering.  

    The shares are expected to be offered by Southeastern Grocers, and the number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined.

    Citigroup, Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank Securities will act as representatives of the underwriters for the offering, and, together with William Blair and Wells Fargo Securities, will act as joint book-running managers for the offering. 

  • DSW opens new stores Oct. 3

    Columbus, Ohio – DSW Inc. will open new stores in Baltimore and in Lafayette, La. on Oct. 3.

    The Baltimore store will be located at 3501 Boston Street and the Lafayette store will be located at 609 Settlers Trace Blvd. Customers will be able to participate in the DSW Rewards loyalty program and also participate in the DSW Shoe Lover community on Facebook to receive exclusive offers and giveaways.

     

  • Jamestown Acquires San Francisco’s Ghirardelli Square

    San Francisco — Investment and management firm Jamestown has acquired Ghirardelli Square, a 100,394-sq.-ft. lifestyle and entertainment-oriented retail complex located at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf for an undisclosed sum. The retail portion of the asset was 55 percent leased at the time of the sale, which includes the Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Company’s U.S. flagship location and numerous boutique shops and restaurants.

  • Buckle leases space at Golden Triangle Mall

    Denton, Texas — Denim specialty retailer Buckle plans to open a store at Golden Triangle Mall on Oct.17. Golden Triangle, Denton’s only mall, features Macy’s, Dillard’s, J.C. Penney, Sears, Barnes & Noble and DSW Show Warehouse as anchors.

    Cencor Realty Services manages the mall, and The Weitzman Group www.weitzmangroup.com is the exclusive leasing agent for the property.

     

  • Krispy Kreme to open 25 stores in Colombia

    Winston-Salem, N.C. – Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation has signed its first development agreement in South America with Bogota-based IRCC Ltda., a subsidiary of the VA! Group. Under the agreement, IRCC expects to develop 25 stores in major cities throughout Colombia, including Bogota, Medellin and Barranquilla, during the next five years.

  • Glen Eagle Square welcomes three more new retailers

    Chadds Ford, Pa. — Three more new retailers have signed leases at Glen Eagle Square. Gap’s national women’s athletic wear brand Athleta, took 5,100 sq. ft. Pet Valu leased 3,200 sq. ft. and Not Your Average Joes, a casual American-style restaurant will occupy more than 7,200 sq. ft.

  • New Sam’s Club opens in Harker Heights, Texas

    Harker Heights, Texas — Sam’s Club will open its new Harker Heights, Texas location on Sept. 26 at 8 a.m. The grand opening will feature presentations by the mayor of Harker Heights and the president of the chamber of commerce president. Retired NFL player Ed “Too Tall” Jones will make an appearance from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

    The new 136,000-sq.-ft. warehouse will bring 175 jobs to the community and feature a fresh bakery, a tire and battery center, a café and a fueling station.
