  • Roark Capital closes acquisition of CKE Restaurants

    Atlanta -- An affiliate of Roark Capital Group has acquired a majority stake in CKE Restaurants Inc., owner of Carl's Jr., Hardee's and various other quick-serve restaurant chains.

  • Kroger buys 12 acres at Hampton Roads Crossing

    Virginia Beach, Va. — Kroger has acquired 12 acres at the Hampton Roads Crossing mixed-use project in Suffolk, Va., according to Divaris Real Estate (www.divaris.com), the broker that represented the seller, Terry/Peterson Investment Thirty, in the transaction.

    Kroger intends to construct a 113,361-sq.-ft. Kroger Marketplace on the site.

  • Mattress Warehouse to Falls Church, Va., center

    North Plainfield, N.J. — Mattress Warehouse has leased a 21,404-sq.-ft. space at Crossroads Place in Falls Church, Va., according to Levin Management (www.levinmgt.com), the leasing and management agent for the 336,248-sq.-ft. shopping center. The lease signing brings retail occupancy at the center to 100%. JBG Rosenfeld Retail served as the tenant’s broker in the transaction. Plans call for the new store to open in March.

  • Bob’s Discount Furniture to be acquired by Bain Capital

    Manchester, Conn. — Bob’s Discount Furniture has signed a definitive agreement to sell a majority stake of its business to Bain Capital for an undisclosed amount. Bob's management team will continue to own a "significant stake" after the deal and will remain involved in operations, according to the company, which has been majority owned by private equity firm KarpReilly/Apax for the past nine years.

  • Divaris completes two retail leases in Richmond

    Virginia Beach, Va. — Divaris Real Estate has completed two retail leases totaling more than 21,000 sq. ft. in Richmond.

    PetSmart renewed its lease for 19,734 sq. ft. at Parch Place at Short Pump, which is leased and managed by Divaris (www.divaris.com). Metro Commercial Real Estate represented the tenant.

    Kamayan Restaurant leased 1,577 sq. ft. in the 360 West Shopping Center, which Divaris leases and manages. The Filipino restaurant joins Rite Aid, AutoZone, Dollar General, Subway, Jackson Hewitt and Radio Shack.

  • Report: Kroger renovates Ohio stores; plans to spend $330 million on renovations

    Columbus, Ohio – Kroger reportedly recent spent $9 million on renovating a store in the Columbus, Ohio, area, and plans to spend another $9.4 million renovating three other stores in the area of its headquarters city. According to the Columbus Dispatch, this spending is part of a larger $330 million the retailer plans to spend on renovations by the end of the current fiscal year.

  • Tile Shop opens third Boston-area store

    Plymouth, Minn. – The Tile Shop is launching its third retail store in the Boston metropolitan area. The new 15,805-sq.-ft. store will be located in the Worcester suburb of Shrewsbury, Mass.

    The new store will join The Tile Shop’s other Boston area stores in Natick and Avon, Mass.

  • Metro PCS expands to Tucson

    Tucson, Ariz. — Metrocom-DBC doing business as Metro PCS is expanding with a new 1,380-sq.-ft. store in Tucson’s Northgate Plaza. The prepaid wireless service provider has 14 stores in California and two in Phoenix. Metro PCS is planning four new stores in Tucson. T-Mobile owns Metro PCS.

    Commercial Retail Advisors represented the landlord, TNP SRT Portfolio I, in the transaction. The tenant was self-represented.
