  • RadioShack opens first custom New York concept store Feb. 1

    Fort Worth, Texas - RadioShack is opening its first custom concept store in New York on Saturday, Feb. 1. Situated steps from Grand Central terminal, this location and its design evoke a sleek 1960s-retro feel, paired with a modern product assortment.

    Interactive areas throughout the store encourage shoppers to discover personalized solutions, connect with sales associates and realize the unlimited potential of technology. All RadioShack concept stores showcase an upgraded shopping experience with:

  • CIG acquires Garden Park in Lewisville, Texas

    Los Angeles — CIG Retail Properties has acquired the 170,739-sq.-ft. Garden Park Shopping Center in the Dallas, Texas, suburb of Lewisville, for an undisclosed amount. CBRE’s private capital group in Dallas negotiated the sale on behalf of the seller, a special servicer.

    World Gym and Thrift City anchor the center. The tenant line-up includes Precision Sports Nutrition, Edward Jones, The UPS Store and Lewisville Soccer.

  • Report: Saks to add luxury items, outlet stores

    New York – Saks Fifth Avenue is reportedly planning to both increase the amount of high-end luxury goods it sells and also increase the number of Saks Off 5th outlet stores it operates. According to the Wall Street Journal, Richard Baker, CEO of Canadian department store chain (and new Saks owner) Hudson’s Bay Company wants to overhaul Saks stores by selling more items such as $48,000 Louis Vuitton crocodile handbags.

  • Susser completes Sac-n-Pac acquisition

    Houston -- Susser Holdings Corporation and Susser Petroleum Partners LP have closed their previously announced acquisition of the convenience store assets and fuel distribution contracts of Sac-n-Pac Stores, Inc. and 3W Warren Fuels, Ltd.

  • Target plans Hawaii store

    Minneapolis - Target plans to open a new store in the city of Kahului on the island of Maui in Hawaii, in March 2015. The store will be located as part of the Pu‘unēnē Shopping Center.

    This will be the first Target store in Maui.

  • Study: Wal-Mart supercenters benefit California communities

    Sacramento, Calif. – Wal-Mart supercenters in California benefit communities by supporting additional job creation, small business growth and more robust sales tax revenues. According to a new economic impact report conducted by economist Lon Hatamiya of the Hatamiya Group, on average, California communities with Wal-Mart supercenters fared far better on taxable retail sales than those communities without Wal-Mart supercenters.
     

  • Jo-Ann Stores promotes real estate exec

    Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores has promoted Tony Carosello to VP, real estate. Carosello, previously director of real estate operations for the company, will report to Jim Kerr, EVP, CFO.

  • Smoothie King targets Atlanta for franchise growth

    New Orleans — Smoothie King Franchises has announced that it is targeting Atlanta for franchise expansion. The company, which will unveil its new store design next month in South Florida, plans to open 25 new locations in the Atlanta region over the next five years.
