  • Callison to be acquired by Dutch design giant

    Seattle -- Seattle-based architecture and design firm Callison said it will be acquired by Arcadis, a global design consultancy firm based in the Netherlands.

    The transaction is slated to be completed in the third quarter of 2014. Arcadis also owns architectural design firm RTKL, built asset consultancy firm EC Harris, and Asian construction program planning and value management consultancy Langdon & Seah.

  • Dollar Tree profit dips in second quarter

    New York -- Dollar Tree Inc. reported that net income in the second quarter dipped 2.6% to $121.5 million, from $124.7 million a year earlier, amid higher freight costs and investments in higher-value products.

    Revenue rose 9.5% to $2.03 billion, and same-store sales increased 4.5%, beating Wall Street estimates of a 2.5% rise. It was the chain’s26th consecutive quarter of positive comparable store sales growth.

  • Baker Katz completes Dave & Buster’s lease in Houston

    Houston -- Baker Katz, an X Team International partner, announced that it has completed the lease of a 40,000-sq.-ft. Dave & Buster's in Houston.     

    Located in the Baybrook Mall expansion project, this will be the third Dave & Buster's location to open in the Houston area.

     

  • Cushman & Wakefield appoints new head of U.S. property management

    New York -- Cushman & Wakefield announced that Michael Prabhu has joined the firm as the U.S. head of Property Management.

    Based in downtown Los Angeles, Prabhu’s focus will be on the strategic growth of the firm’s property management business in the U.S.

  • JLL effects sale of Lake Washington Crossing

    Orlando, Fla. -- JLL’s Capital Markets experts announced the firm has closed the sale of Lake Washington Crossing on behalf of WSRI-SRP Lake Washington, LLC.

    Baltimore-based Philips Edison Group, LLC, purchased the 118,698-sq.-ft. grocery-anchored shopping center, located near Florida’s ocean coast, in the town of Melbourne.

    Managing Directors Kris Cooper, Margaret Caldwell and Carson Good led the JLL team on the transaction.

  • CSA to name ‘Top Redevelopers’ for 10th straight year

    New York -- Chain Store Age is conducting its 10th annual survey of the Top Redevelopers in the United States. Survey results, which measure renovated and redeveloped projects completed within the last 12 months (June 30, 2013 to June 30, 2014), will appear in the November 2014 issue of Chain Store Age.

  • T.J.Maxx to open five stores in Chicago area

    Framingham, Mass. -- T.J.Maxx will be opening five stores in the Chicagoland area starting this week and through October.

    "The opening of these five stores in the Chicagoland area marks a momentous occasion for our brand," Richard Sherr, president of T.J.Maxx, stated.

    All five T.J.Maxx stores will occupy over 122,000 sq. ft. of retail space.

     

  • Bayer Properties names senior VP development and construction

    Birmingham, Alabama — Charles McNamee has joined Bayer Properties as senior VP of development and construction. McNamee most recently served as senior VP of commercial development and construction with Colonial Properties Trust.

    In his position with Bayer, McNamee will be responsible for all aspects of development and construction, including oversight of both the Development and Tenant Coordination and Construction Departments.
