  • Tucker Development receives site plan approval for Hudson Lights

    Fort Lee, N.J. -- Tucker Development Corp. announced that its mixed-use project planned for downtown Fort Lee, N.J. — Hudson Lights — has received site plan approval from the Fort Lee Borough Planning Board.

    The project will encompass eight acres in the heart of downtown.

     “We’ve worked to create a vibrant shop, dine and live quality environment,” said Richard H. Tucker, president and CEO of Tucker Development.

  • Colonial Candle to open first-ever retail store for the brand

    Charleston, S.C. -- Colonial Candle said it is opening its first retail and research boutique in Charleston, S.C. The 3,000-sq.-ft. flagship store is the 103-year-old candle company's first and only boutique.

    Located in The Shops at Charleston Place, the Colonial Candle boutique joins Godiva, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Lacoste at the center.
     
    The new store is slated to open in early fall 2012.

  • Marcus & Millichap names Houston senior associate

    Houston -- Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services said it has hired Derek Hargrove as a senior associate in the Houston office.

    In his new position, Hargrove will focus on the sale of multi-tenant shopping centers throughout southwest Texas. He also holds the title of associate director of Marcus & Millichap’s National Retail Group.

  • What Happens in Vegas…

    There was quite a bit of excitement heading into this year’s RECon convention. The event is, in many respects, the annual event for retail real estate professionals from around the country (and more recently from around the world). It seemed to have a little bit more industry buzz going for it than in recent years. I think the combination of some encouraging economic indicators and the feeling that the industry is on the cusp of what may be a more sustainable long-term recovery had everyone’s optimism in high gear.

  • Ross Dress for Less to open at St. Louis Mills

    Hazelwood, Mo. -- St. Louis Mills, Missouri’s largest outlet and value retail shopping and entertainment destination, will add a 35,000-sq.-ft. Ross Dress for Less, joining recently opened Toy Heaven, Broadway Suits and Wholesale Mattress Center and More.
     
    The new Ross store will be located near Sears Outlet and across from Levi’s Outlet.
     

  • Cafaro seeks to expand portfolio through acquisition

    Youngstown, Ohio -- Cafaro Co. has announced it is actively seeking to expand its portfolio of enclosed malls.

    According to the company, each potential acquisition property must demonstrate historic, stabilized net operating income and minimum sales of $300 per sq. ft. Cafaro said is interested in malls with a minimum gross leasable area of 600,000 sq. ft. in trade areas of 200,000 – 450,000 residents.
     
    Cafaro currently owns and oversees more than 30 million sq. ft. of commercial real estate in 11 states.
     

  • Seasons 52 to open first Massachusetts location

    Burlington, Mass. -- Boston-based Wilder Cos. announced that, as part of a two-phased revitalization plan, Seasons 52 will open a new restaurant at Wayside in Burlington, Mass., the restaurateur’s first location in the state.

  • Easton Town Center announces new tenants, renovation project

    Columbus, Ohio -- Easton Town Center co-developers Steiner + Associates and The Georgetown Co. announced Monday that they will be adding more than 50,000 sq. ft. of new tenants this year and renovating more than 150,000 sq. ft. of existing space.
