  • Smart & Final Extra! Signs into San Dimas Plaza

    San DiegoBrixmor Property Group has leased approximately 45,000 sq. ft. to Smart & Final Extra! at Brixmor’s San Dimas Plaza in San Dimas, Calif. The supermarket/warehouse store will take over the space formerly occupied by Ralphs. NAI Capital represented Smart & Final.

    T.J. Maxx anchors the 119,157-sq.-ft. San Dimas Plaza alongside national retailers Rite Aid, Payless ShoeSource, Sprint and RadioShack.

     

  • Christopher & Banks narrows loss; plans new store openings

    Minneapolis -- Christopher & Banks Corp. reported a loss of $265,000 for the quarter ended Aug. 4, narrowed from a $2.2 million loss in the year-ago period. Sales edged up 1% to $104.2 million from $103.4 million, and same-store sales climbed 7.7%.

    Under the leadership of CEO LuAnn Via, the company is in the early stages of a turnaround, with store openings on tap for both fiscal 2013 and a longer-term three-year period.

  • Shelter Cove signs two new tenants

    Hilton Head Island, S.C. — Shelter Cove Towne Centre has signed letters of intent with two new tenants: Heritage Fine Jewelry and Jake’s Wayback Burgers.

    A joint venture between Blanchard & Calhoun Commercial and Kroger Real Estate, Shelter Cove is being developed into a destination for Hilton Head residents and the area’s 2.5 million visitors. The project includes plans to redevelop the existing mall into a walking village that will consist of 290,000 sq. ft. of retail space anchored by Kroger and Belk.

     

  • Report: Neiman Marcus sale imminent

    Neiman Marcus is closing in on a deal to be purchased by Ares Management and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board for $6 billion, according to reports.

  • Dick’s opens stores in South Carolina, New Jersey

    Pittsburgh – Dick’s Sporting Goods reopened a newly renovated store in Columbia, S.C., on Sept. 8 and is opening a brand new store in South Plainfield, N.J., on Sept. 13.

    The remodeled 59,000-sq.-ft. store in Columbia includes additional specialized services and hands-on customer experiences, including a golf simulator, a club fitting center, putting green, an archery lane with an on-site bow technician, and bike safety inspections, custom fittings, tune-ups and assembly.

  • The suburbs are morphing into the urbs

    Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust is repositioning its Moorestown Mall in suburban Moorestown, N.J., by bringing in tenants associated with urban life.

    For instance, a number of new tenants include independent chef-owned restaurants like those found in urban edge neighborhoods.

    The goal is to reposition the suburban mall with an urban environment.

  • Dover Saddlery plans first Florida store

    Littleton, Mass. – Dover Saddlery Retail plans to open its first store in Florida next month. Located in Winter Park, just north of Orlando, the new Dover Saddlery store will offer the retailer’s full line of equestrian products as well as in-store services such as a saddle demo program and custom boot and coat fittings.

    "We are excited to open our first store in Florida and join the equestrian community of Winter Park and the surrounding areas," said Ken Cavanaugh, director of retail at Dover Saddlery.

  • Redevelopment Coup

    WinCo Foods has agreed to develop an 85,000-sq.-ft. modern grocery store at Old Orchard Village East in Lewisville, Texas.

    WinCo Foods, founded in Idaho in 1967, is an employee-owned discount grocery that operates 87 stores and plans to expand into Dallas-Fort Worth metro region with 15 new stores over the next several years.

    The deal will take the Old Orchard Village East center from 60% leased to 100% leased and make it possible to carry out a $20 million transformational redevelopment.
