  • Bebe stores swings to loss in Q1

    Brisbane, Calif. -- Bebe stores reported Friday a net loss of $2.6 million for the quarter ended Sept. 29, compared with net income of $2.4 million for the year-ago period.

    Sales slipped 7.3% to $117.1 million from $126.3 million, and same-store sales dropped 8.7%.

    During the quarter, the company opened five 2b stores and closed seven Bebe stores, and said it expects to open five Bebe stores and one 2b store in fiscal 2013 as well as close five Bebe stores and one 2b pop-up store.

     

  • Go! Calendars/Go! Games to open seasonal store at Jamestown

    Alameda, Calif. -- Jamestown L.P., which owns Alameda (Calif.) South Shore Center, said that Go! Calendars/Go! Games has signed a four-month lease for a 2,356-sq. ft. space, beginning Oct. 1.

    The company operates a year-round online store, but opens approximately 1,000 storefronts in malls during the holiday season.

    The 594,000-sq.-ft., open-air Alameda South Shore Center offers a pop-up leasing strategy to accommodate temporary tenants, including Go! Calendars/Go! Games and, most recently, Pedal Beach, a beach rental and supply store.

  • Nordstrom Rack relocating to Westfield Culver City

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced that it plans to relocate its Nordstrom Rack at Promenade at Howard Hughes Center in Los Angeles to Westfield Culver City in Culver City, Calif.

  • Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts to open at Cayuga Mall

    Ithaca, N.Y. -- Brixmor Property Group announced that Jo-Ann Fabrics & Crafts will open a new store in an 18,350-sq.-ft. space at Cayuga Mall in Ithaca, N.Y.

    Brixmor, based in New York City, is the owner of Cayuga Mall.

  • ShopRite of West Milford gets planning board nod

    West Milford, N.J. -- Inserra Supermarkets has been granted final site plan approval for the renovation and expansion of West Milford Shopping Center, which includes a 65,925-sq.-ft. ShopRite.

    The 100,000+-sq.-ft. retail center’s tenant roster includes Wells Fargo Bank, Rite Aid, Frank’s Pizza and Just a Buck, and adjoins a free-standing McDonald’s restaurant.

  • Costco October sales up 9%

    ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco's sales for October rose 9% to $7.67 billion from $7.01 billion during the similar period last year.

    Total comps for the month increased 7%, consisting of a 7% increase in the United States, and a 9% increase internationally. Excluding the impact of fuel, U.S., international and total same-store sales increased by 5% each.

  • Lids to acquire retail stores from Fanatics

    Indianapolis -- Lids Sports Group announced Wednesday that its retail division will purchase 12 stores from Fanatics Inc., comprised of nine FansEdge locations in the Greater Chicago area as well as one in Oklahoma and two Football Fanatics in Jacksonville, Fla.



    The locations will be rebranded under the Locker Room by LIDS retail banner, to include region-specific storefronts such as Chicago Locker Room and Oklahoma Locker Room.
