  • Walmart to open second campus location

    New York -- Walmart will open a mini-store on the campus of Georgia Tech, according to a report by the Atlanta-Constitution.

    The 2,500-sq.-ft. convenience-store styled location, expected to open this spring, will be the retailer’s smallest unit in the country.

    The Georgia Tech store will be Walmart’s second campus location. In 2011, the retailer opened a store on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
     

  • Cabela’s adds two new stores to 2014 lineup

    Sidney, Neb. -- Cabela’s Inc. on Tuesday announced plans for two new stores, one in Greenville, S.C., and the other in Woodbury, Minn.

    Cabela’s expects to open the Greenville store – its first South Carolina location – in spring 2014. The 100,000-sq.-ft. store will be located in Magnolia Park, a newly redeveloped shopping center.

  • PPR to expand Christopher Kane brand and open boutiques

    Paris -- French luxury group PPR’s Tuesday announcement that it has acquired 51% of British fashion brand Christopher Kane means that the luxury designer will soon have branded boutiques. The first is slated to open in London as early as 2014.

    According to a report by Reuters, the deal is part of PPR's strategy to add to its luxury portfolio with small brands that have growth potential.

    "We think it can become a sizeable business," Alexis Babeau, managing director of PPR's luxury division, told Reuters on Tuesday.

  • Vitamin Shoppe enters Canada under new Vitapath banner

    Toronto -- Vitapath, a subsidiary of U.S.-based Vitamin Shoppe, has opened its first two Canadian stores in the greater Toronto area in Newmarket and Leaside. The company expects to expand its retail stores under the Vitapath banner across Canada, with additional locations expected to open later in 2013.

  • Target to open in Huntington, N.Y.

    Minneapolis -- Target announced plans to open a store in Huntington, N.Y. in October.

    To date, Target has announced plans to open 17 Target stores in 2013.

     

  • Levi’s, New York City

    Levi’s latest New York City location, in SoHo, has a rustic feel, enhanced by the use of wood and other materials. Designed by MBH Architects, the 12,683-sq. ft. store features tent-like dressing rooms and lighting fixtures made of rope. The "fit bar" is a table made of natural wood logs.

     

  • Destination Maternity opens first Canada location

    Philadelphia -- Destination Maternity Corp. said it is opening its first Destination Maternity store in Canada on Thursday in Calgary, Alberta, at the Kingsland Village retail development.

    The store will debut its A Pea in the Pod brand in Canada.

  • European Wax Center to open at Murray Hill

    New York -- Winick Realty Group announced that European Wax Center has signed a lease for its first Murray Hill location at 222 East 34th Street, between Second and Third Avenues. The 1,900-sq.-ft., ground-floor store is slated to open this spring.

    The store is part of the newly developed retail at the base of 480-unit luxury apartment building The Anthem.

    Winick Realty Group is exclusively handling retail leasing on the building on behalf of landlord Rosebud Associates.
