  • Men’s Wearhouse to open first-ever Joseph Abboud freestanding store

    Fremont, Calif. - Men's Wearhouse will open the first-ever Joseph Abboud retail store in midtown Manhattan in spring 2015. The store follows the launch of JosephAbboud.com in early November.   
  • Mattress Firm posts strong same store sales

    Just a few weeks after taking over several regional bedding companies, Mattress Firm reported profits of $15.6 million or 45 cents per share, compared to $18.1 million or 53 cents per share for the year-ago quarter. Sales for the third quarter increased 42.3% to $464 million from $326 million a year ago, reflecting same-store sales growth of 8.5%.

  • Esplanade mixed-use property to undergo major renovation

    Phoenix - The Esplanade mixed-use development on E. Camelback Road in Phoenix will under significant renovations beginning in first quarter of 2015, according to third-party manager CBRE.  
  • Outlet Center: Moving Dirt

    After nearly a decade of stalled growth in the shopping center industry, 2014 finally saw progress being made on the new development front. While it’s true that much of the ground-up construction was of the outlet center ilk, the value sector wasn’t the only new-build push. Mixed-use properties and open-air destinations continue to come out of the ground, albeit stingily, as do hybrid centers that defy current standard definitions.

  • HomeGoods joins Whole Foods in the Mayfair Collection

    Chicago - HSA Commercial Real Estate announced that the firm has executed a 22,454-sq.-ft. lease with HomeGoods for the second phase of The Mayfair Collection, which is now under construction in Wauwatosa (Milwaukee), Wisconsin. HomeGoods will occupy the northern end cap of a building to be anchored by a 45,150-sq.-ft. Whole Foods Market.  
  • Corner Bakery Cafe on the Fast Track

    Corner Bakery Cafe is in a growth mode. The company, which was acquired in 2011 by Roark Capital Group, an Atlanta-based private equity firm, is entering new markets and opening locations across the country, from New York City to Las Vegas. It will end the year with 185 cafes (114 company-owned and 71 franchised). The company plans to more than double its U.S. footprint by 2017 through a combination of franchised and company-owned cafes.

    Gary Price, a restaurant executive with over 20 years of experience, joined Corner Bakery Cafe as president in October 2012.

    Englewood, Col. - Sports Authority continues to roll out its enhanced store environment in both existing stores and new locations nationwide. Most recently, the retailer completed the remodel of an existing store and also opened two new units in the Las Vegas area.
