  • Glimcher makes executive appointments

    Columbus, Ohio -- Glimcher Realty Trust has announced the promotion of Thomas J. Drought to the position of executive VP, director of leasing.

    Drought was previously senior VP, director of leasing.

    Glimcher also announced the appointment of Damion Sankovich to VP leasing. Sankovich was previously regional director, leasing.

  • Kentucky Oaks Mall to undergo renovation

    Paducah, Ky. -- Youngstown, Ohio-based Cafaro Co. announced that its Kentucky Oaks Mall property, located in Paducah, Ky., will under a major renovation.

    According to Cafaro, the rehab is the most significant in the mall’s 28-year history, involving both interior and exterior transformations. When complete, the mall will feature newly designed entrances, concourse skylights, new ceiling treatments, energy-efficient lighting, as well as new flooring treatments and soft-seating areas.

  • Five Below to open 50 stores and enter Chicago market in 2011

    Philadelphia -- Teen value retailer Five Below said that the company is launching a major expansion into Chicago, with the signing of 12 store leases.

    The new stores, which are planned to open in the spring, are the first of up to 20 new stores that will open in the Chicago market this year, according to the company.

    Over the next three to five years, Five Below anticipates expanding its foothold in Chicagoland and increasing the number of stores in the region to as many as 60 locations.

  • Wingstop to expand in Mexico

    Richardson, Texas -- Wingstop announced it will add another 20 stores in Mexico over the next three years thanks to an extended development agreement with current international franchisee WIS de Mexico S.A. de C.V.

    Wingstop has more than 475 restaurants open across the United States and Mexico.

    “We are thrilled with our success in Mexico over this past year,” said David Vernon, VP franchise sales for Wingstop.

  • Grubb & Ellis names project manager

    Chicago -- Grubb & Ellis Co. announced that Thomas M. Erdelac, AIA, a 24-year commercial real estate veteran, has joined the company as senior project manager.

    Erdelac was most recently a principal with VOA Associates.

  • Charming Charlie to open at Hammond Square

    Hammond, La. -- Covington, La.-based Stirling Properties, developer of Hammond Square, said that Charming Charlie will occupy a 9,911-sq.-ft. space on Main Street across from Books-A-Million and Shoe Department Encore.

    The anticipated opening is spring 2011, and will accompany openings by Academy Sports + Outdoors and The Children’s Place.

  • Saks to close Denver store

    New York City -- Saks on Wednesday announced it plans to close its Saks Fifth Avenue store located in the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver, Colo., on March 19. With the closing, the company will have closed seven Saks Fifth Avenue stores since July 2010.

  • Bottom Dollar Food opens at Chalfont Village Shopping Center

    Chalfont, Pa. -- Centro Properties Group announced that a 20,685-sq.-ft. Bottom Dollar Food opened at Chalfont Village Shopping Center, located in Chalfont, Pa.

    Centro Properties Group, based in New York City, is the owner of Chalfont Village Shopping Center.
