  • A modest upswing in domestic expansion

    An announcement last week that Target plans to open 21 stores in the coming fiscal year was interesting on a number of levels.

    For starters, the disclosure was rather uncharacteristic for a company that in years past would publicly release its stores openings a week or two in advance of the actual openings. In this case, the company shared its full list of openings for the entire year two weeks before its new fiscal year even begins.

  • Roy Perez-Daple joins Metro Commercial Real Estate

    Conshohocken, Pa. -- Metro Commercial Real Estate said Monday that Roy Perez-Daple has joined the company, where he will expand the firm’s national retailer advisory services as well as pursue strategic landlord opportunities.

  • Steven E. Baker named president of Winick Realty Group

    New York City -- Winick Realty Group LLC said Tuesday that, effective immediately, Steven E. Baker has been named president of the firm.

    Baker, who is also a partner, had previously held the title of co-president.

  • Target names pres. for Canadian venture

    MINNEAPOLIS -- Target announced that Tony Fisher has been named president of Target Canada.  In this position, Fisher will be responsible for building the team, establishing the headquarters and leading the day-to-day operations of the corporation's recently announced expansion into Canada, the company reported.

  • Three tenants open at the new Coopertowne Center

    Somerdale, N.J. -- Purchase, N.Y.-based National Realty & Development Corp. said that GameStop, Great Clips and Go Wireless have opened at the newly renovated CooperTowne Center.

    Reopened in October 2010, CooperTowne Center is a 385,000-sq.-ft. Greyfields Redevelopment that revitalized the former Lions Head Plaza in Somerdale, N.J. The shopping center is anchored by Walmart Supercenter, a Cinemark 16-screen theater, and a LA Fitness.

  • Urban Retail names finance exec

    Chicago -- Urban Retail Properties LLC said Tuesday it has appointed Samuel J. Greenblatt as principal, finance/capital markets. Greenblatt’s primary role will be to raise capital and foster financial relationship opportunities for the company.

    Prior to his role with Urban, Greenblatt was executive VP and director of originations of RAIT Financial Trust, a NYSE traded mortgage real estate investment trust.

  • Carmike Cinemas signs lease at Upland Square

    West Pottsgrove, Pa. -- Plymouth Meeting, Pa.-based Fameco Real Estate, L.P. said that  Carmike Cinemas has signed a lease for an approximately 46,000-sq.-ft. state-of-the-art multi-screen movie theater to be located in the  Upland Square Shopping Center, in West Pottsgrove, Pa.

  • Anthropologie to open at Town Center Plaza

    Kansas City, Kan. -- Beachwood, Ohio-based Developers Diversified Realty Corp. said that Anthropologie will open an 11,202-sq.-ft. store at Town Center Plaza, a 626,000-sq.-ft. lifestyle center located in Leawood, Kan.

    The new store is slated to open this summer.

    In 2010 at Town Center Plaza, Victoria's Secret relocated and expanded to a new 7,200-sq.-ft. prototype store, Bath & Body Works expanded into a 3,267-sq.-ft. space, and The Limited executed an agreement to open a 4,595-sq.-ft. store in the spring.
