    Founded as a “cook your own steak” restaurant in an abandoned gas station in 1974, Quaker Steak & Lube has evolved into one of the nation’s most up-and-coming casual-dining chains, renowned for its award-winning chicken wings and flavorful — make that hot — sauces. But as much as the food offerings have changed at “The Lube,” the brand remains true to its gas station and vintage car-loving roots.

  • Amazon and Dickies, a curious combo at SXSW

    The South by Southwest interactive/music/lifestyle event held each year in Austin, Texas, will see leading workwear brand Dickies team up with Amazon to host a lineup of leading musical acts.

    The companies have created The Dickie’s Roadhouse presented by Amazon at the iconic Austin establishment known as Banger’s on Rainey Street near the convention center. Headliners at the event include Ludacris and Until the Ribbon Breaks.

  • Bartell Drugs to host spring event at select locations

    Bartell Drugs is celebrating healthy and beautiful living during its Spring Health & Beauty Event, being held now at Bartell locations in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties.

    Between March 2 and 15, activities at selected locations will include health clinics, free beauty “mini makeover” demonstrations and hair styling tips by Conair, and product samples ranging from cosmetics to dental care.

    Three years after launching its Let’s Play initiative, Dr Pepper Snapple Group wants to play some more. The company has committed another $11 million to expand its efforts to provide tools, places and inspiration to make active play a daily priority in the lives of kids, families and communities across North America.

  • P&G unveils new campaign aimed at Latinas

    Procter & Gamble's Orgullosa program — a platform created in 2011 to celebrate, empower and fuel Latinas’ accomplishments and dreams — unveiled its Nueva Latina campaign. The campaign is a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to empower women to define what it means to be a bicultural, modern Latina.

  • Tastykake debuts special snack to mark 100th anniversary

    In celebration of its centennial, Tastykake is releasing new, limited-edition Birthday Kake cupcakes, which combines confetti cake with chocolate-flavored icing and colorful sprinkles. The cakes are available in 12-count packs and hit store shelves this week.

  • Swiffer enlists Jewel for cleaning tool ad campaign

    Jewel joined for the debut of the Swiffer Sweep and Trap, which features soft rotating beater blades that are designed to scoop up large particles into a removable dirt bin for quick disposal.

    The singer-songwriter led the debut — which took place in New York at the kid-oriented venue Make Meaning — with a live performance of the new "Clean-Up Song." Her acoustic performance is available for free download on the Swiffer Facebook page at Facebook.com/Swiffer.    

  • Banana Republic unveils omnichannel campaign for spring

    Banana Republic will unveil an omnichannel marketing campaign called “True Outfitters” in March 2014.

    Styled by Jessica Diehl and shot by Mikael Jansson, the campaign was developed with Laird+Partners, Banana Republic's advertising agency. The campaign will appear in March and April publications, supplemented by outdoor, online and direct mail. Digital portions include a dedicated website and a special YouTube event on March 2.
