    Virtually all grocery stores, especially large chain grocery operators, are dealing with the same dilemma when it comes to clustering customers by linking point-of-sale data with loyalty card program information.

    And, based on the two very different types of data generated by POS and loyalty cards, it’s obvious to see why grocers are in a quandary on how to approach the issue.

  • Supervalu's Cub Foods kicks off Hunger Action Month food drive

    STILLWATER, Minn. — Supervalu banner Cub Foods, KSTP-TV, MOM Brands, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and Dean Foods on Tuesday announced a partnership to sponsor the Hunger Action Month food drive under the banner "Give a Little, Feed a Lot" during September at all Cub Foods stores in Minnesota.

    Spice maker McCormick & Company has opened its first retail destination, McCormick’s World of Flavor, in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area. Designed as a brand showcase, the store houses McCormick's full range of flavorings, seasonings and other products, including its Old Bay and Grill Mates lines.

  • Macy’s Herald Square renovation debuts Herald Square Café

    New York -- As part of its landmark, multi-year, $400 million dollar renovation of Macy’s Herald Square, the department store retailer debuts the Herald Square Café this week.

    Located on the second floor with the shoe department, the 1,434-sq.-ft., 45,-seat café will serve Starbucks coffees, chocolates and high-end champagnes.

  • J.C. Penney Co. debuts three new brand shops

    Dallas  -- J.C. Penney Co.  has unveiled details of its three newest brand shops.
     
    The shop will debut September 1, in nearly 700 stores nationwide. , They feature dedicated in-store environments for Liz Claiborne, Izod, and  a new private-label line of fashion basics line called jcp.

    Ron Johnson, CEO of J.C. Penney Co., gives a sneak preview of the company’s latest wave of brand shops, which will open in nearly 700 Penney stores nationwide on Sept 1. The new shops are dedicated to three brands: Liz Claiborne, IZOD and jcp – a new exclusive brand dedicated to high-quality fashion basics.

    NEW YORK — Barneys New York and The Walt Disney Company are teaming up on Barneys’ 2012 holiday campaign at Barneys stores in a campaign called Electric Holiday.

    The multi-platform initiative will combine fashion and fantasy, merging the creativity and magic of Disney with the wit and surprise of the legendary Barneys New York annual holiday campaign.

  • Craftsman unites republicans, democrats under one roof

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears' Craftsman brand is using the upcoming Republican and Democratic National Conventions to show that two sides can come together.

    The company has teamed up with Ty Pennington of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" fame, Sears Heroes at Home, Rebuilding Together, NextGen Home built by Champion and Bank of America to build two halves of one home -- one in Tampa, Fla. during the RNC and the other in Charlotte, N.C. during the DNC.
