  • Select Macy’s locations begin 24-hour Christmas push

    New York - Macy’s Inc. said Monday that 14 of its stores, including Herald Square and Queens Center in New York, will remain open 24-hours-a-day until Christmas.

    The extended hours begin on Tuesday, Dec. 21.

    The stores, which are located in New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Virginia, Michigan and Minnesota, will be joined by another slate of nine stores that will stay open until 2 a.m., located in New York, New Jersey, California and Massachusetts.

  • HSN chief to speak at Citi Global Entertainment, Media and Telecommunications Conference

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Interactive multichannel retailer HSN announced that the company's CEO, Mindy Grossman, will present at the Citi 21st Annual Global Entertainment, Media and Telecommunications Conference in Phoenix on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at 9:50 a.m. Mountain Time.

    A live broadcast of the session will be available in the investor relations section of the company's website at www.hsni.com. For those unable to participate, an archived broadcast will be available shortly following the presentation.

  • Dillard's a top stock performer in 2010

    Fortune has released its list of the top 10 Fortune 500 stock performers for 2010, and Dillard's is the lone retailer on the list.

    Ranked at number 10, Dillard's, which is ranked at 348 on the Fortune 500, posted a year-to-date stock performance improvement of 97% and a market cap of $2.1 billion.

    According to the report, Dillard's sold more merchandise this November than last year, with sales totaling almost $470 million for the month. That marked a 7% increase over last year.

  • TGT and food supplier set NRF date

    NEW YORK - A seminar on collaborative merchandising initiatives at the upcoming National Retail Federation convention should draw considerable interest due to the involvement of Target and ConAgra Foods. The seminar is sponsored by DemandTec, a company whose suite of merchandising solutions have been used by both companies since 2007. The session will be facilitated by DemandTec’s SVP consumer products Rob Culin.

  • A winning wish for kids

    The small ad was a little lost on the bottom of page 36 of Target’s 40-page holiday circular this week, but there among an offering of floor care products was a reminder of a Facebook initiative that could be worth as much as $50,000 to the Kids In Need Foundation. The ad encouraged readers to visit Facebook.com/TargetGiveJoy to create a wish list of up to five items for a chance to win a gift card equal in value to those items with Kids In Need receiving a $5 donation for each wish list submitted up to a total of $50,000. The program ends at midnight on Christmas.

  • Staples names final members to its Small Business Hall of Fame

    CHICAGO - Staples and the Chicago Bears have announced that McHenry-based Frost Dental Lab and M&M Custom Flooring of New Lenox are the final “enshrinees” to be named to the Staples Small Business Hall of Fame. These Chicagoland small businesses join previous winners Markatay Inc. and Tasty Catering to make up the Staples Small Business Hall of Fame Class of 2010.

    ARLINGTON, Va. and WASHINGTON - The National Retail Federation and the Retail Industry Leaders Association both issued statements supporting the final passage of a bipartisan agreement for extending critical individual and business taxes.
