    MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — For the second year in a row, Walmart Canada is holding its Great Big Toy Testing Event, which not only gets parents and their children into stores, but also showcases toys for the 2013 holiday season in a real-world holiday wish list catalog setting. 

  • Coke exec joins food safety group

    Neil Marshall, global director of quality and food safety with the Coca-Cola Company is the newest member of the Consumer Goods Forum’s Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).

    Marshall replaces fellow Coca-Cola colleague D.V. Darshane who recent took a new position with Coca-Cola in Europe.

  • KeyPoint: economic growth returns to Eastern Mass.

    Burlington, Mass. -- KeyPoint Partners has released The KeyPoint Report for Eastern Massachusetts/Greater Boston 2013. The report examines supply, occupancy, absorption and retailer expansion and contraction for virtually every retail property in the region. The 2013 report also includes a ten-year historical perspective that discusses the regional retail economy before, during and since the recession.

  • Shop.org re-elects ChannelAdvisor CEO to board

    RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Shop.org, the digital arm of the National Retail Federation, has re-elected Scot Wingo, co-founder and CEO of ChannelAdvisor, a leading provider of cloud-based e-commerce solutions for retailers and manufacturers, to its board of directors.

    Wingo was re-elected to the 20-member board for another two-year term by existing Shop.org members along with executives from Belk, HSN, Razorfish, Tory Burch and Urban Outfitters. 

  • Lowe’s, USO host Fourth of July grill-off for troops

    WASHINGTON — Lowe’s and the USO treated hundreds of servicemen and women and their families to an all-American event headlined by a charity grill-off at Nationals Park to thank the U.S. armed forces and celebrate the Fourth of July. 

    Active-duty troops from each branch of the armed services grilled up burgers for the grilling competition.

  • Men’s Wearhouse in annual National Suit Drive

    Fremont, Calif. -- Men’s Wearhouse has launched its sixth annual National Suit Drive, with a goal to collecting 150,000 gently used professional clothing items through July 31, to donate to unemployed men and women who are trying to re-enter the workforce.

    In its first five years, the Men’s Wearhouse National Suit Drive collected more than half a million pieces of business attire, including 120,000 suits.
