National Amusements said it will open a six-screen Cinema de Lux at the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center in March 2013.
The new theater is designed to deliver a high-luxury experience with a full-service restaurant, premium reserved seating and at-your-seat dining.
“We’re looking forward to bringing an unparalleled movie going and dining experience to Chestnut Hill,” said Shari Redstone, president of National Amusements.
The cinema complex will be developed at the former Macy’s site, utilizing over 40,000 sq. ft. and including a yet-to-be-announced restaurateur. The theatre lobby will also include a full bar and lounge.
“The state-of-the-art cinema will bring a dynamic new dimension to our project, further contributing to the transformation of this iconic property in the heart of Chestnut Hill,” said Jeremy Sclar, president, WS Development, the JV partner on the shopping center.
National Amusements and WS Development are also joint venture partners at Legacy Place (Dedham, Mass.), which features Showcase Cinema de Lux. In addition, National Amusements operates Cinema de Lux at The Shoppes at Blackstone Valley (Millbury, Mass.), a WS Development property.
The addition of Cinema de Lux is part of a major redevelopment at the Chestnut Hill Shopping Center, which will expand to 406,000 sq. ft.
