  • Walmart’s inventory priorities for 2014 on tap at DBB

    Leveraging inventory while driving consumption is the topic of a presentation scheduled for next week in Northwest Arkansas by Walmart’s senior director of consumables replenishment Kendall Trainor.

    Trainor is the featured speaker at a breakfast meeting organized by Doing Business in Bentonville. From 7-9 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, Trainor will share insights on Walmart’s top five inventory priorities for the coming fiscal year.

  • The Container Store completes IPO; adds four board members

    Dallas -- The Container Store Group, Inc. has completed its IPO of 14.375 million shares of its common stock at a price to the public of $18 per share, including 1.875 million shares sold in connection with the full exercise of the option to purchase additional shares granted to the underwriters.

  • 99 Cents Only opens California store Nov. 14

    City of Commerce, Calif. – 99 Cents Only Stores is opening a new store in Ladera Heights, Calif., on Nov. 14. The new store is approximately 19,000 sq. ft. and will feature a perishable food department, including produce, dairy and frozen foods.

    99 Cents Only Stores currently operates 334 extreme value retail stores consisting of 240 stores in California, 44 in Texas, 33 in Arizona, and 17 in Nevada.

  • Canadian Tire reports strong Q3 results; names president

    Toronto – Canadian Tire reported strong financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2013. These include an 11% increase in net income, to $139 million from about $128 million.

    In addition, revenue grew to $2.83 billion from $2.7 billion. Consolidated same-store sales grew 3.1% across the Canadian Tire, FGL Sports, and Mark’s banners.

  • Lane Bryant opens four shopping center stores Nov. 8

    Columbus, Ohio – Lane Bryant is opening four stores at different shopping centers on Nov. 8. These locations include a refreshed store at Eastwood Towne Center and a new store at The Marketplace at Delta Township in Lansing, Mich., as well as new stores at the Clackamas Promenade in Clackamas, Ore., and the Epps Bridge Center in Athens, Ga.

    Lane Bryant operates more than 800 full-line and outlet stores in 48 states nationwide.

  • BJ’s prepares Black Friday week, Facebook coupons

    Westborough, Mass. -- BJ's Wholesale Club is spreading its Black Friday deals across an entire week (Sunday, Nov. 24 through Sunday, Dec. 1), excluding Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 28. The retailer says it is offering more than twice as many Black Friday deals this year as it did last year.

  • Michaels offers interactive holiday help

    Irving, Texas – Michaels is offering a free, interactive “Just Add Wishes” DIY site to help consumers with holiday needs. From Nov. 11 through Dec. 24, kids can interact with a live elf through streaming video.
