    New York -- Global Visual Group (GVG) has appointed 30-year retailing veteran Tony Mancini as CEO. Mancini has held significant senior executive leadership positions, including  Las Vegas Sands Corp., MGM Mirage Design Group and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts/Walt Disney Imagineering, leading its global capital development portfolios worldwide.
       

  • Ross Stores offers two-for-one stock split in June

    Dublin, Calif. – The Ross Stores Inc. board of directors has approved a two-for-one stock split on June 11, 2015. The split will be paid in the form of a 100% stock dividend to stockholders of record as of April 22, 2015.

  • Sportsman's Warehouse celebrates the ladies

    Sportsman's Warehouse is trying to increase its appeal among women with a promotion aimed at outdoorsy ladies.

    The retailer plans to host its 5th annual Ladies' Night on March 26. The company says the event will celebrate the growing number of women who regularly participate, or are just becoming involved in, outdoor sports such as hunting, fishing, camping and shooting.

  • SEC to allow Wal-Mart vote on independent chairman shareholder proposal

    New York -- The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rejected a request by Wal-Mart Stores to prevent shareholders from voting on a proposal to elect an independent board chairman at the retailer’s annual meeting in June.

    Wal-Mart had argued that the proposal, which was submitted by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters General Fund, should be omitted because it was vague in its standard of independence, according to Reuters. But the SEC rejected the argument.

    Washington, D.C. -- The average person celebrating Easter this year will spend $140.62, slightly more than last year’s $137.46, according to the National Retail Federation’s Easter Spending Survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics. Total spending for Easter is expected to reach $16.4 billion.

    Most Americans plan to stock up on food and clothing for the Easter holiday, according to the National Retail Federation.

    NRF’s Easter Spending Survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics reports that the average person celebrating Easter will spend $140.62, slightly more than last year’s $137.46. Total spending for Easter, which includes purchases of apparel, decorations, gifts, candy, food, flowers and more, is expected to reach $16.4 billion.
