    WASHINGTON — The National Retail Federation's president and CEO Matthew Shay and chief economist Jack Kleinhenz have issued a statement concerning June's employment numbers, released by the Department of Labor.

  • Kids Brands EVP and COO adds CFO to resume

    EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Kid Brands' EVP and COO Kerry Carr is about to take on a third title at the company as its new CFO. The news comes amid the company's announcement that it has sold the Russ and Applause brands to Larsen and Bowman Holdings for $1.25 million.

    Carr replaces James Christl, whose resignation for personal reasons from his position as SVP and CFO has been accepted by the company.

    BOCA RATON, Fla. — Office Depot has unveiled the next phase of its anti-bullying collaboration with pop group One Direction. The retailer will offer a limited-edition collection of back-to-school products and donate a percentage of sales to anti-bullying education.

    GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Shopko Foundation has announced the recipients of its Teammate and Family Scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year. The foundation awarded $75,000 in scholarships to 30 students in 10 states.

    Crate and Barrel will utilize Kewill's Flagship parcel shipping and Netship expense management software to streamline its supply chain and integrate a roster of carriers to ensure it selects the best available rate and service every time.

  • Honeywell CEO is having a sweet year

    MORRIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Honeywell chairman and CEO Dave Cote has been named CEO of the Year by Chief Executive Magazine. Cote will be featured on the cover of the magazine’s July issue as well as on ChiefExecutive.net.

    The award recognizes the transformation of Honeywell under Cote’s leadership throughout the past decade. During that time, Honeywell has increased sales by 71% to $37.7 billion and has consistently outperformed the S&P 500 during that timeframe.

  • RadioShack brings on new VP – communications

    Fort Worth, Texas -- RadioShack Corp. has announced the appointment of Merianne Roth to the new post of VP – communications. She will manage the company’s corporate communications, community relations, internal communications and event marketing.

    Roth comes to RadioShack from the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she served as VP, marketing and communications. Her experience includes marketing and communications posts with J.C. Penney and Pier 1 Imports.

     

  • Stater Bros. will acquire Moreno Valley Albertsons

    San Bernardino, Calif. -- Stater Bros. has announced an agreement to purchase the recently closed Albertsons in Moreno Valley, Calif.

    The 43,670-sq.-ft. supermarket will be the fourth location for Stater Bros. in Moreno Valley.
