Valspar names new exec

Paint manufacturer Valspar has announced that John Wardzel has joined the company as senior VP global operations, reporting to Steven Erdahl, EVP. In this role, Wardzel will provide executive leadership of Valspar’s global operations and becomes an officer of the company.

Wardzel, 53, joins the Minneapolis-based company from Celanese Corp., where he was senior VP operations, having responsibility over worldwide manufacturing, engineering, operations and safety, health and environmental. Prior to Celanese, Wardzel held operations leadership positions with such companies as W.R. Grace, Honeywell, GE and Allied Chemical.

Late last month, Valspar announced the promotion of Brenda McCormick to controller.
