  • Dick’s breaks bad in New Mexico

    Dick’s Sporting Goods 2013 store expansion efforts are winding down, but not before the retailer opens a new unit next week in Albuquerque, N.M., and mixed martial artist Carlos Condit participates in grand opening festivities.

  • Twitter files IPO

    San Francisco – Twitter has officially filed for an IPO with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The social network reported a net loss of $79.4 million, down 38% from the previous year, on revenue of $316.9 million in 2012, a 198% increase from 2011.

    In addition, Twitter said in the filing it has 215 million members who send 500 million tweets per day.

  • Cencor names marketing director for Denton mall

    Denton, Texas — Cencor Realty Services has named Carrie Carter director of marketing for Golden Triangle Mall in Denton, Texas. Carter’s new responsibilities include creating and executing the mall’s marketing, public relations, advertising and social media programs. She will also support the mall’s current renovation through the development of marketing, collateral and presentation materials.

  • Dunkin’ Donuts planning restaurants in Turkey

    Canton, Mass. — As part of Dunkin’ Donuts’ development strategy to increase its international presence, the company has announced plans to develop restaurants in Turkey. The company is seeking large well-capitalized groups with operating experience capable of building out region with a minimum of 20 to 25 restaurants. The schedule calls for the first restaurants to open in early 2015. The goal is to develop more than 100 restaurants over the next 10 years.

  • Giant-Carlisle turns 90

    Ahold USA-owned supermarket chain Giant Food Stores celebrated its 90th birthday.

    The supermarket banner, which operates nearly 200 stores under the Giant and Martin's Food Markets brands in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, marked its anniversary Friday morning at a store in its hometown of Carlisle, Pa. Customers at all the company's 200 stores will receive free slices of cake and free apple slices Friday.

  • Fairway Markets plans New York store

    New York - Fairway Group Holdings Corp., the parent company of Fairway Market, is opening a 65,000-sq.-ft. store in Nanuet, N.Y., on Oct. 10.

    "We're excited to make our newest home at this premier shopping destination in Nanuet and are also very pleased to be creating more than 300 new jobs in the area," said Charles Santoro, Fairway Market's executive chairman.

  • Penney launches in-store Disney shops, new kids brands

    Plano, Texas -- J.C. Penney Co. is set to launch Disney branded shops inside 565 Penney stores on Oct.4. The shops will offer toys, collectibles and children's apparel designed for Penney and showcasing various Disney characters, including those from Toy Story and Monsters University and Disney Junior shows.
