  • Polaroid Fotobar, The Linq, Las Vegas

    Polaroid Fotobar has opened a flagship at The Linq, a new, pedestrian-friendly shopping street in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. The two-level, 8,500-sq.-ft. space — part retail, part museum — celebrates the storied history of Polaroid while also tapping into consumers’ love of digital photos.

  • Staff changes continue at Target

    Target has further strengthened its marketing organization with the hiring of Kristi Argyilan as SVP, media and guest engagement, effective June 2.  

    Argyilan will be responsible for leading and integrating the company’s paid, earned, owned and shared media initiatives.

    Argyilan comes to the Target from IPG Mediabrands where she was most recently the president, Magna Global, North America. She has also held senior positions with advertising and integrated marketing agencies including Arnold, Hill Holiday, and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.

  • Designed by Baltimore’s DDG, Mall of Istanbul opens

    Baltimore — The Mall of Istanbul opened today in Istanbul, Turkey. The 34.5-acre mixed-use development features 2.1 million sq. ft. of retail space, 1.4 million sq. ft. of residential space and 322,600 sq. ft. of office space.

    Baltimore-based DDG won the design contract for the mall in 2009 in an international competition.

  • Hibbett Sports eyes growth following strong first quarter

    Strong demand in Hibbett Sports’ core footwear and brand-focused apparel business helped drive sales in the first quarter. The sporting goods retailer opened a record number of new stores and fully converted operations to its new wholesale and logistics facility, but it’s not done growing its footprint in fiscal 2015.

  • Stein Mart taps former Belk exec as director on e-commerce

    Jackonsville, Fla. -- Stein Mart on Thursday said it has appointed Sara Meza as director of e-commerce.

    Meza came on board in April, following a 12-year tenure at Belk where she led the original launch of the retailer’s website business.

  • Williams-Sonoma soars in Q1, topping earnings and sales estimates

    San Francisco – Williams-Sonoma had a strong first quarter of fiscal 2014, with net income climbing 17% to a better-than-expected $46.16 million from $39.17 million.

    Net sales grew 10% to $974.33 million from $887.8 million, also topping estimates.

    Total same-store sales grew 10%. Williams-Sonoma credited much of its success during the quarter to market share gains and advantages conferred by its multichannel operations.
