  • Shopko targets omnichannel shoppers

    As online gift registries become more popular with shoppers, Shopko is giving its gift registry service an omnichannel makeover.

    Shopko has joined forces with MyRegistry.com to offer Shopko customers access to MyRegistry.com’s software platform and services. The partnership enables Shopko shoppers to create and manage personal gift registries using the myregistry.com platform and technology, including an in-store mobile scanning app.

  • A&G Realty Partners to manage sale of RadioShack stores, warehouses

    Melville, N.Y. -- A&G Realty Partners, a leading commercial real estate, advisory and investment group, has been retained by RadioShack to manage the sale of retail store leases and warehouses following the company's recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

  • Kate Spade to close Kate Spade Saturday, Jack Spade stores; announces China venture

    New York -- In a surprise move, Kate Spade & Company announced it is closing all 19 of its lower-priced Kate Spade Saturday stores and all 12 of its Jack Spade menswear stores. Both brands will remain in the luxury company's portfolio, with Kate Spade Saturday being folded into Kate Spade, and Jack Spade being sold at other retailers and online. The company also announced a new joint venture to speed its growth in China, where it sees a long-term potential for 100 stores.

  • Survey puts average mobile fraud loss per company at $92.3 million

    New York -- Companies are losing as much as 25% of online revenues an average per respondent of $92.3 million per year – to mobile fraud, according to a study by RSA and TeleSign, a provider of mobile identity verification solutions. Nearly one-third of organizations lost as much as 10% and up to 25% of revenues due to mobile fraud.

  • YellowKorner joins The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale

    Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -- The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale, a premier regional mall in Broward County, Florida, has added France-based YellowKorner, a limited edition photo gallery, to its mix of more than 100 specialty retailers. YellowKorner is located across from Dillard’s upper mall entrance and next to Natuzzi in the nearly one million-sq.-ft. mall.

  • Survey: Returns extend holiday stress

    Cincinnati – Post-holiday returns serve as a way to ensure the stress of the holiday season lasts into the New Year. According to a survey of about 1,200 adults by loyalty program provider LoyaltyOne, one out of every two U.S. shoppers (51%) say that returning gifts adds to their post-holiday stress.

  • Aaron’s 2014 profit down 35% in 2014

    Atlanta -- Rent-to-own retailer Aaron’s saw its profit drop 35% in 2014 amid declining traffic and weak sales. The company, which operates some 2,100 stores, was also impacted by hurt by various charges related to restructuring and the acquisition of Progressive Leasing.

    Aaron’s reported net earnings of $78.2 million for 2014, compared to $120.7 million in 2013.
