  • Home Depot targets professional customers with $1.6 billion purchase

    Atlanta - The Home Depot Inc. is spending about $1.6 billion in an acquisition squarely aimed at better meeting the needs of its professional customers.

    The retailer is purchasing Jacksonville, Florida-based Interline Brands Inc., a national distributor and direct marketer of broad-line maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) products.

Neiman Marcus Group Ltd. is partnering with luxury consignment provider The RealReal in a new program that offers consignors payment in Neiman Marcus gift cards with an extra 10% added to the value of their payout.

  • Bassett Furniture names Ethan Allen exec as store development

    Bassett, Va. - Bassett Furniture Industries Inc. has named Ann Zaccaria has joined the organization as VP, real estate and new store development. She will be responsible for site selection, lease negotiation and store planning for new Bassett retail locations.

    Zaccaria served as VP, real estate with Ethan Allen Interiors for the last 22 years.

    Bassett Furniture is a manufacturer and marketer of mid-priced home furnishings with 92 company- and licensee-owned stores.

  • LIDS gives tip of hat to military families

    LIDS Sports Group has selected a new charity partner that may resonate with many of its customers.

    The company's philanthropic arm, LIDS Foundation, has named Our Military Kids as it 2015 national partner. The foundation presented a check of $200,000 to Our Military Kids to help sustain its efforts in keeping military children engaged in athletic, fine arts and tutoring programs.

  • Report: Macy’s treads on Amazon’s turf

    New York – There is no shortage of retailers treading on different pieces of retail turf dominated by Amazon.com, and Macy’s is reportedly joining the list. According to Reuters, Macy’s will partner with same-day delivery provider Deliv to expand same-day delivery of online purchases to several new U.S. markets before the end of the summer.

  • Ruby Tuesday appoints PepsiCo exec as marketing chief

    Maryville, Tenn. - Ruby Tuesday Inc. has appointed David Skena as chief marketing officer.

    During the past nine years, Skena progressed through PepsiCo Inc. with increasing levels of responsibility, most recently serving as the VP of premium and value brands.

    In the chief marketing officer role, Skena will be responsible for developing and implementing effective marketing strategies and initiatives to build brand awareness and customer loyalty through traditional media, digital and social channels, and other innovative platforms.
